What would you recommend for a senior-friendly, bar-style, smartphone with decent camera, large screen (good for chubby fingers and reduced eyesight), and good battery life? Has to work in Canada.

Can companies pay more to have an ad on YouTube that I can’t select “stop seeing this ad” on?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 04:11 AM PST

I have selecting "stop seeing this ad" and follow up with "repetitive" when prompted to put in a reason. I am now left with about 90% google ads. For fairly obvious reasons I cannot "stop seeing this ad". There is one other company that I can't make this selection on and it's called Sportsbet, it's an Australian sport betting company. Does anyone know how these ads work? Can a company pay more to not have this option available?

How to download an inbox worth of attachments from Outlook?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 03:34 PM PST

    Hi AskTechnology

At my job we recently decided that we wanted to construct a database of all our business contracts and signed documents in a shared drive. However, for the last 3 years I have simply been reviewing the .pdfs in the Preview pane to check for signature, and moving them to an Archive folder - so, unlike my colleagues, I dont have a windows folder of Contracts to simply upload to the share drive - They are all in my inbox, still attached to the emails!

Is there a straight-forward way of downloading all of these attached files at once?

Is there any type of device or transmitter that can transmit information to an iPhone/Android from something like an out of home billboard?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 02:02 AM PST

I'm researching transmitters that can communicate to a users phone from a billboard as an idea for a fictional advertising campaign.

This is just meant to be a creative way for a billboard to speak to an app. I know that bluetooth has been used for similar things in the past where people close to a billboard get a text about an upcoming TV show, but I'm certain that there's upgrades to the technology that allows communication to apps and stuff.

Sorry if this is a weird question!

    Password reset tool

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 09:52 PM PST

I forgot my password to my windows 7 gateway laptop. I bought a software called uukeys and It ended up being a fake, because they took my money, and was unable to register the product with the registration code that I was given. Is there a legit software that is pretty simple and straightforward to download and to use? I get that I will have to pay, but need help getting pointed to the correct direction. Long story short my bank is trying to fight the transaction

Looking for a tablet (with attachable keyboard) that would be good for college

I am on a really low budget. Anything over $300 is just too much for me. Trying to take advantage of Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Do you know any good devices for me?

Who is my Network Administrator When Using a VPN?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 08:16 PM PST

I've had something happen to me while using HOLA VPN that's been wracking my head for a few days and I cant relax about it. I'm not very good with computers so any advice helps. So, for preface I was using the Chrome Extension of HOLA but while using Hola, for a site that normally works for me, a weird message popped up on my computer screen. It said it came from SonicWall Network Security Appliance "This Site has been Blocked by Your Network Administrator" "Block Policy: cfsZonePolicy0" "Client I.P. Adress: 192.168.42.77" (which after looking up the IP address I found that it was a private IP)

and then it gave me a block reason. The one thing I do know is that the "CFS" policy means it was a content filter from a network with sonicwall. But here are my questions, is it possible that while using HOLA I connected to another peer's network (serving as the exit node) which had a firewall blocking my connection to the website? Or would HOLA itself be blocking my connection to the website (In which case does that mean HOLA was monitoring the websites I was visiting?)? In this article (https://www.top10vpn.com/reviews/hola-free-vpn/) it says that HOLA for chrome doesn't use a Peer to Peer service for the chrome extension, but if it doesn't why else would I run into a content filter block from a firewall?? Can I assume that someone downloaded HOLA on something like a business or college network to get around the firewall and then I happened to connect and run into the firewall? I just can't relax thinking that HOLA was monitoring my network use and then decided to prevent me from viewing a website. And then my last question, could the block have come from the website itself? But I don't assume so because it was specifically a "CFS" block.

Wifi devices not using full potential (Google nest hub)

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 06:46 PM PST

So my nest hub app's speedtest says I should be getting around 220 mbps, while the nest hub app also says the ps4, which is using about 99% of the capacity, is getting 200 kbps. We just got a new modem, the cable line was rewired, and we just got 2 boosters for the nest hub, and our internet is still not performing nearly as well as it should. Suggestions?

    Question about KVM switches

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 01:53 PM PST

Hey guys, I hope this is the correct sub for such question, else maybe tell me where should I post 😅😅😅.
So, I have the current setup at home: desktop pc used for leisure, gaming, and sometimes development, and a MacBook Pro for work, and a 24 monitor; they are all connected through a kvm switch, so I can easily switch computer without touching any cable.
I'd like to buy a monitor 100Hz, don't know yet if 4K because if I use such high resolution I'm going to need the image to be not too small cause my eyes suck. The whole idea of changing monitor is to help my eyes: I don't play any recent game and I'm not aiming to crazy FPS.
Question: how do I find a KVM that supports 100Hz when I play 1080p and 60/75Hz (100Hz is also welcome) when I work? Can you suggest few models if you know any? Does it matter if it should have DisplayPort or HDMI? Last question is because it might have a strong impact on what monitor I buy.
I really appreciate some help, with this situation of staying home 24/7 I feel the need of taking better care of my eyes.

What is stored on a SIM card?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 08:58 AM PST

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm just curious. What data is stored on a SIM card? If you erase an iPhone but forget to take out the SIM card, what can someone get from it? Can you use anything from the SIM card to get stuff like browsing history or personal data? What can the government or the most experience hacker get from a SIM card that is in an erased phone? I'm also curious, the last time I changed my number they didn't make me take out the SIM card and they didn't give me a new one, but they just asked me to pick a new number and it automatically went on my phone (I have an iPhone). What does this mean if I want to sell my iPhone but I don't want anyone to be able to access data from it? I know most likely phone data wouldn't be able to get retrieved by the average person, but let's say that the best hacker ever gets a phone that I erased with my SIM card on it. What can they get? Also, if I erase my own phone but keep my SIM card, what could a provider access/what data is hypothetically possible to get?

Looking for LARGE Conference Room Video Solution advice

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 11:24 AM PST

    Hi All!

I am looking for a replacement/solution for a 360 degree conference room camera set up for a large room with large rectangular table that seats 30 people. Room is approx 60X30 Currently using the following:

Polycom CX5500, which, while not terrible, does not capture either end of the long rectangular table very clearly, and is also end of life.

Two older model Vaddio (brand) cameras (mounted), which must me controlled (PTZ) manually via Crestron (brand) tablet or with presets.

    Looking for the following:

    • A solution to replace the Polycom CX5500 that is 360 degrees for a rectangular table that is approximately 36 feet long X 6 feet wide - makes it difficult to see faces on either end of the table.

      • Requirements: good resolution and integrates well with Zoom and MS Teams (been having issues in this department)
    • Replacement for the mounted Vaddio cams

      • Requirements: auto-tracking/PTZ functionality, over 12X zoom, and are high resolution

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

iPhone won’t mirror to my Hitachi Smart Tv?? Would appreciate any help :)

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 09:00 AM PST

When I press the "Screen Mirroring" button, it displays a loading circle but won't load my smart TV as an option to mirror to, it's just a constant loading circle. I checked my AirPlay settings and they're all fine so I'm not sure what the problem is? Thanks :) not sure if I explained that very well I'm sorry

    Do HDMI 2.1 Splitters exist?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 08:57 AM PST

I have a Samsung Q80T TV that has only one 2.1 port + a ps5 and a pc with an RTX 3080. Ideally I'd like to hook up both to my TV via 2.1 to take advantage of the 120hz support at 4k.

I have been told to use the 3080 for the 2.1 port as many ps5 games won't hit 120fps anyway. Is this true?

    Thanks

Will Renaming Multiple Files/Folders Every Day Use Write Cycles On My SSD?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 08:30 AM PST

I have a couple of powershell scripts which rename ~5000 folders every morning on my hard drive. I had these folders stored on a very old hard drive which is starting to give me errors at about nine or ten years old. In the meanwhile, I have moved these folders to my primary SSD, but I'm worried about write cycles. Is there any validity to my concern? Should I stop using the scripts until I can replace the hard drive?

    Help with windows upgrade

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 08:21 AM PST

Hello. I'm a windows 7 user. I sticker to this version since it's very stable and nice for me. I'm working as a composer and have many music production tools however such as Steinberg Cubase that are cutting off support for seven. I need to jump to ten. Does a system image file keep EVERYTHING the way they are? I need to backup ALL the programs EXACTLY the way they, otherwise they won't work since I have some cracked programs that took ages to configure. How do I go about this safely? (Also the win10 will be cracked)
