    Charter Internet at Different Address

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 11:20 PM PDT

I have disconnected my charter WiFi service as I will be moving at the end of oct.

I have already received the router for my new address under a new account.

Can I use that here instead of the old one and continue service at my current address under a new account until I move?

    Thanks!

Need help deciding what to buy!

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 07:17 PM PDT

I want to get 2 things , but dont know what's best.

I want one of those scales that tell you your body fat percentage and lean body mass. I know there are a ton but I'm not sure if the cheaper ones are as good as the $100+ ones. Ideally I'm not spending an insane amount on it, but I'm wiling to pay up to $150 if iI have to.

The other product is one of those fit watches. I had an Apple Watch that broke, but never really used it for anything besides counting the number of calories I burn in a day. I just want something that does that really well. I dont really care about the other stuff.

Would really appreciate any suggestions. I dont need any gimmicky stuff, I would just like decent accuracy.

Connect two monitors to laptop - HDMI-splitter vs. docking station?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 03:47 AM PDT

    Hello,

Recently, I bought two monitors that I would like to connect to my laptop. But I am not sure how to do that.

Both screens have HDMI inputs and the laptop just has one HDMI-input.

Is it necessary to buy a docking station, which is pretty expensive, or is it sufficient to buy an HDMI-splitter?

    Hope you can help.

    Dell Latitude E7270 in 2020 for $319?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 08:16 PM PDT

I've been searching all over the place for a basic office laptop of decent spec, but I haven't been able to find anything that isn't woefully overpowered or unreasonably expensive.

After searching eBay for Dell Latitudes, I've found a Dell Latitude E7270 for around $319 in great shape. Its specs are as follows:

    • Intel i7-7-6600U
    • 8GB DDR4
    • 1080p Screen
    • 256GB SSD

I'm not planning to do anything more than viewing content or editing documents, but is is too old of a laptop? And are there any better options for around $350. (A chromebook is simply not an option for me, it must be able to comfortably run Windows 10).

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

Why does my G7 monitor look so bad on my xbox one?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 11:40 PM PDT

Well, I just used my G7 that I just bought for my Xbox Series X but turns out it the Xbox won't be here till early December. I have the Samsung LC24F390FHEXXY 23.5" Full HD LED-LCD Curved Monitor and my games look very nice and run smoothly, but when I plugged in my G7 the colours where a little disorientated, input lag was present and just wasn't nearly as good as my LC24 curved.

Does anyone know why it's worse? Shouldn't it be a little prettier and a little smoother?

Please dont call me stupid for using a 700 dollar 1444p monitor for my xbox one, I know its stupid but I brought the G7 for the XSX originally but im stuck with my base xbox one for now.

Also im a tech noob so dont bash me

    How's this "e-board" working?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 10:17 PM PDT

So I found this video on twitter that shows how a teacher has made a virtual board with only plexiglass and led strips. I cannot for the life of me figure out how it is working? I mean the best I can do is figure out the position of the marker using light sensors on the opposite side of the led strips but thats only for the position not the lighting up of the spots and the video doesn't even mention sensors. Can someone tell me what's probably the actual mechanism of this?

Not sure which ipad to buy (air, pro)

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 09:51 PM PDT

I just started dental school and I am looking to buy an ipad for note taking but I'm debating which model to buy. I know the new ipad air is coming out soon that has a 64 gb (for a pretty attractive price) and a 256 gb option, but the ipad pro starts off at 128 gb. Both are compatible with apple pencil 2. I'm thinking 11 inch if I do end up going for the pro, but the air is pretty similar at 10.9 inch.

Is 11 inches okay or should I go for the 12.9 for note taking? Is 64 gb too little space for all 4 years of dental school? Another difference is the refresh rate and there might be some latency using the pencil with the air since its rate is 60 hz compared to the 120 hz but since the air isn't out yet it's hard to really know.

If anyone has any suggestions at all for me that would be super appreciated! Thanks so much.

What smart tv should I use for a gaming pc and how should I connect it?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 02:11 PM PDT

Ok, so I'm finally buying a smart tv and I want to be able to use it pretty seamlessly with my gaming pc/games on it. I'm not sure what TV I should get and how I should connect the TV to my computer so that it works well.

Minimally, my gaming pc will be connected to a monitor on a desk, and then have the smart tv attached as well. Should this be attached via HDMI/display port or is there another way I can go about connecting the smart tv to my computer? Also, what tv should I consider getting in terms of working well with windows and gaming?

How do I change "Do you want to automatically share changes as they happen?" to no on word on my Lenovo laptop?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 12:03 PM PDT

On word on my Lenovo laptop when I hovered my mouse over save and clicked "This command is currently disabled." Something came up which said "So you want to automatically share changes as they happen?" And I clicked yes by a mistake, then I thought "I want to change it to no, so I'll click This command is currently disabled again, and when I see Do you want to automatically share changes as they happen I will click 'No'" so I clicked 'This command is currently disabled' and I didn't see 'Do you want to automatically share changes as they happen?" I clicked again because I have to make it no but no matter how many times I clicked it, I don't see that pop up so I can change it to no. What do I do so I see that pop up again to click no to change it to no? And why?

My dad did something where I can't connect to the WiFi from 12 to 6 am on my Lenovo laptop not that the WiFi doesn't work, I can't connect to the WiFi, it says no internet secured so its secured but it just won't connect if I connected, the internet would work but I can't connect and it's not that the router was off , the router was on the router was on the whole time so it's not because of the router, what do I do to fix this? Play Videos on USB like a playlist automatically on load

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 11:16 AM PDT

Alright. I have over 60 digitized home movies I want to put on USB Sticks for the family (some of which are older and struggle with tech). So we have two tiers:

Basic Tier: All the files on the drive and they play one after another in a playlist on being inserted or launched in a PC or TV.

Advanced Tier: The video files play as a playlist just like in the basic tier but there is a DVD style menu where I can select each file.

I look forward to hearing your ideas!

My dad got a hold of my laptop in the middle of the night and now I can’t save on a document

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 09:19 AM PDT

My dad got a hold of my laptop in the middle of the night and now it says 'Word(Unlicensed Product) now this is a Lenovo laptop and Word comes with it so it's already an app that comes with the laptop. I can't auto save or save and I'm guessing he's done something since he knows how to program where now Word is now an "unlicensed product" and for some mysterious reason I can't save. Help me so I can save and auto save my typed document as I currently can't. Before he did this I was able to save and auto save and now I can't and it says unlicensed product but before it didn't on this laptop now it does after I open it again. Now it says I have to 'save to onedrive or SharePoint Online if you want to use AutoSave.

Help me so it goes back to the way it was before where I can auto save and save please. It's been around two weeks I've had this Lenovo laptop and a trial is one week . And previously, I had an acer laptop with the same app Word where I could save and auto save from the day I bought it and I had that laptop for more than three weeks before returning it. Never did I run into this problem. There's a way where you can do something where it makes it where you have to buy something or install something just so you can save and autosave like by a hacker or something and my dad knows how to hack. I didn't purchase it. I bought the laptop and it was already on there. Word was there and I could just save and auto save and I've had the laptop and have been able to do this for as long as I've had it up until I found out recently which is I've had this laptop for multiple weeks now I think.

Chrome OS or win 10 S?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 08:35 AM PDT

I'll be picking up a new cheap laptop and I've found one that uses chrome OS and one that uses Windows 10 S which I understand is a cut back Windows 10. Does anyone have any perspective on using either of these systems? I only plan on using it for web browsing, light streaming, video conferencing and want good battery life. I was leaning to the Windows 10 S machine since I'm just more familiar with Windows and I see that I can upgrade from S to full win 10 (although that may affect performance). If I'm better off not upgrading from S I'm thinking of sticking with Chrome since I use a lot of g suite features. Any opinions?
