Disable wifi/direct wifi on my smart TV Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:27 AM PDT I wanna totally disable the emission of wifi signals on my smart. Why would i want that? i don't really care about potential health effect of wifi signals but my wireless headset does. I mostly use my smart tv as a second screen of my pc so i have some interference problems (i hate a shitty wifi/bluetooth card because i don't have that kind of problems on my phone). So Please i want a way to make my wireless headset at least usable and disable mostly the wifi direct setting. In case you'll say that i may not be the reason, when i shut down my tv my headset works better. So please i'm looking for solutions not critics of my way of doing things. [link] [comments] |

Good first job to break into tech industry? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 02:27 PM PDT Sorry if this is the wrong sub for this, don't know where else to post. But I'm trying to move into cybersecurity from a finance position (no tech background). I'm self teaching and hoping to get some certs in the future. Currently I'm unemployed and thinking about trying to get an entry level tech job. Preferably one where i could work remotely and part time. Pay doesnt matter too much as i can try to supplement the additional income with another part time job in my field. As long as it's in the 45-50k range between the 2 of them. So where can i start? I assume i can't get sysadmin position without some related experience. I have some help desk experience from college but it was a night job and involved forwarding callers to people who would actually do the troubleshooting and I would fill out trouble tickets, don't know if that will help but thought I'd mention it. TIA!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Sep 2020 04:21 PM PDT One day I was just playing a game and streaming it with an app called shadow play, then I lagged out of my game and steam wouldn't start. My internet also stopped working so I can't search stuff up. Also, when I go to internet settings, it just scrolls down without my control and I can't control it. Do I have a virus? Someone pls help I wanna play games [link] [comments] |
Old TV scart and 1 hmdi only. How do I port audio to my wireless headphones? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 05:44 PM PDT I play old school video games through it but late night want to hear the audio on headphones (so as not to wake family) [link] [comments] |
Is it really bad to share passwords everywhere? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 08:23 PM PDT My understanding is that if you share passwords with all your accounts, then hacking one of the accounts means hacking all. If you made unique passwords for all of your important stuff, and then used the same password for new, unimportant accounts for things you don't care about would it be alright to repeat the password (like signup for apps you just downloaded)? Sorry, I've just heard the sentiment so much I'm not sure if there is something I'm missing out on. [link] [comments] |
Best tablet for College Work and Drawing? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 04:18 PM PDT I start college next week and I'd love to get a tablet for ease of working on essays and that sort of thing while on the go. I have a PC at home so i've thought a laptop would be a bit unnecessary. The college qualifications are pretty much just microsoft office and zoom things. I'm particularly looking for a tablet that can do that while also being a viable option for digital art. I know there are dedicated digital art tablets and similar things, so I'm kind of looking for the best I can get without going 100% drawing, leaving college work behind. Cheap is always preferable but honestly I'm not sure where to start, so any advice or starting points would be massively appreciated. Thank you :) [link] [comments] |
Raspberry Pi Screen Not Mirroring MacBook Air Screen. Posted: 25 Sep 2020 03:12 PM PDT Hello, all. I have connected a Raspberry Pi screen (4b) to my MacBook Air via Usb and HDMI. However, the RP screen is only mirroring my backdrop, not what is actually going on on my computer. How can I fix this? Let me know if the question is a bit too vague, or if you have anything else to ask. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Sep 2020 02:53 PM PDT i recently got a Ulead usb 2.0 motion tracking webcam as a meme and now i'm trying to get it to work with my pc in OBS. my pc is detecting it but says "driver unavailable". can anyone help with this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Sep 2020 02:43 PM PDT So I am planning to buy a low storage ssd to optimize the speed of my PC for gaming mainly, but there's an issue I don't really get which is if I get the ssd and keep my current HDD as just a storage and keep my current stuff at and make the windows on the SSD now would it be as quick as promised ? And which one is better a sata or m.2 ssd.. and also my current HDD has data on it and ofc the windows so if I put the SSD on and just make the windows on it and put the HDD as a slave with its own windows but boot from ssd would that be an issue cuz I got a lot of data to be recovered back at the C drive... HDMI converter question for laptop/external monitors Posted: 25 Sep 2020 12:32 PM PDT Hi guys, I have a work laptop that has one hdmi port. Currently I have an additional monitor that I plug into that port and it works perfectly. I recently lucked into a second monitor. My question is: if I were to buy a 2 hdmi input to 1 hdmi output adapter, would I be able to use both monitors at the same time? Most of the products I see online are a "switch" which I believe would only allow one of the monitors to work at a time. Is there a product (adapter/converter) that would allow both monitors to function at the same time? The end goal is to have the laptop closed and work exclusively off the 2 monitors. Thanks for the help! [link] [comments] |
Best way to wire a 12v linear actuator and fibre optic kit from same source? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 12:24 PM PDT Best way to wire a 12v linear actuator, and a fibre optic kit together? Have a whiskey barrel, inside there will be a fibre optic kit so that the outside of the barrel is lit, and the lid/shelving inside will be lifted and lowered with the actuator, I'm quite a noob when it comes to electronics, all I would be able to do is use (uk) an extension cord from wall socket to inside, then plug the fibre optic in, and plug the actuator in with like a 12v laptop charger type thing. Need these to work independently, like whether the actuator is up or down or moving, I can use the remote for the lights and do whatever, I'm not looking for the actuator to be in sync with the lights or anything, they are just two electric components used in the same place. The actuator would have a dpdt rocker switch(I think) but having never worked with any of these I'm open to better suggestions, I also have an esp32 and accessories if they can be Utilised from other project but that was complete hair pulling stuff. What is the best way to wire everything up? Should I use a 12v battery instead of power supply and let fibre optic run off the wall itself? Is there a way to have no power being used/not costing money while nothing or one thing is not in use? Especially the actuator as it will be used for a several seconds once in a while so if it could only draw power during then then ideal. Please don't comment about do the research, all I do is research things I don't know, and the biggest thing about learning through the internet is knowing key words and phrases, if you don't know what you don't know then you can't google it. Just need to know what to google. All help appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Sep 2020 10:25 AM PDT So I Am trying to get a new monitor and was wondering which I should get between the Asus xg32vqr and the Asus xg279q. The xg279q is out of stock everywhere and is more expensive while the xg32vqr is available, the monitor is 32 inch 1440p. So which do you recommend, should i wait for the xg279q or should I buy the xg32vqr (which is cheaper) ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Sep 2020 10:11 AM PDT I work a lot with VOIP phones at my job and I was curious how the providers actually do business. Do they simply buy bulk phone numbers and sell them back to you or is it more complicated than that? Where do they get these phone numbers from? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Sep 2020 10:07 AM PDT Hey everyone! I was trying to do some personal research but this thing scares me for some reason I always screw up with gadgets. I'm looking for a projector - that does the following
*connects to my lap top/computer with no cabels *and obviously... has wifi capabilities. Is there such thing for a reasonable price ? Were in 2020 now [link] [comments] |

How do I watch webseries for free? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 11:08 AM PDT PS: I would've really got the subscription if I could afford it but I'm a broke college student and like different things from different platforms Edit: I do most of my watching on the phone so a app would be better. I've tried titanium tv but it buffers too much [link] [comments] |
