Is there a more comprehensive search engine than Google?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 01:59 AM PST

Is there a search engine that would include results that Google would miss?

Which password manager should I use?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2020 01:23 AM PST

So recently something happened that made me realize I shouldn't stick to storing my passwords locally. I see different options like Bitwarden, KeePass, LastPass and so on.

I'm looking for something free and secure preferably with a master password, master pin and multi-device access but it is okay if it only supports one device.

Why is yandex reverse image search better than Google's

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 11:33 PM PST

Yandex is a search engine of Russian origin There have been instances where googles reverse image search feature just fails or generates a very generic result Where as yandex instantly finds the result of the same image Yandex doesn't care if its a reverse image search of a screenshot or a cropped photo Some examples I have attached Case 1 this screenshot from a YouTube video The screenshot The outcomes on google Googles result Yandex outcome Yandex

    2) product from videos screenshots The screenshots The product is the panda camo shirt What google found Nothing What yandex found Even google assistants what's on the screen option is a hit or a miss The previous implement of now on tao had a good text copy feature Can someone explain why google has bad reverse image search

Student Debt Mobile App - Looking for Beta Users!

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 08:37 PM PST

Hello! Over the past several months I've been working on a iOS project developing a mobile app for managing student debt. I'm at the point where I'm ready to release a beta version of the app. I'm looking for 20-25 people that have student debt (in repayment) that'd be willing to test it out and provide feedback.

The mobile app provides some insights and information around your student debt that we think is really helpful (and that loan providers try to intentionally make difficult to understand)!

If you're interested in being a test user you can signup at www.apayfinancial.com

    Thank you!

How can I scan some old 16" x 16" calendars?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 01:00 PM PST

My apologies if this is the wrong subreddit.

My father has some old calendars he'd like me to scan. The problem is, they're too big for all the scanners at my local library and university library. I called Staples, but the biggest scanner they have is only 11.5" x 17". And now that I'm looking online, it seems to be absolutely impossible (I mean impossible) to search for scanners by dimensions -- which makes no sense to me. I don't even necessarily want to buy a scanner, I just want to use a scanner that's big enough to scan these old calendars.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Should the serial number on a samsung ssd m.2 970 evo be the same as the one on the box it came in?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 06:22 PM PST

I just bought one and the serial numbers on those places are different on the last 4 digits (the ssd also has an extra letter at the end).

    Anything else I should check?

    Thanks.

Why can I connect to my extender but not my main network?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 04:31 PM PST

I've reset/unplugged and plugged back in my modem and router multiple times and still I can only seem to get a connection on my extended network and not my main network. My extender shows up as connected whereas my main network says internet might not be available. Any thoughts? Thank you for your help in advance.

I have these cloud-only “digital canvases” (screens) made by a really private company. I can’t use them because I don’t have a contract with them. Is there any way to bypass this?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 09:04 AM PST

Title says it all pretty much.

They're very private and secretive but as any company should, they have that right to be. All I can say I admittedly know is that the screens work off of a permission-based, cloud-based basis and operated via apps. These apps all have a login you must input before access.

I have seemingly useless screens but in my eyes, the technology is still there.

Do you all think there is way around maybe even a hack-around? I'm even willing to open it up.

    The company is called Videri.

    Power adapters

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 11:50 AM PST

    Hello

I'm hoping for some help with some queries around cables/power adapters and what's safe (for me and my gadgets).

Basically, I want to move to as few power adapters and cables as possible for my tech (laptop 61W USB-C, phone 15W, wireless headphones USB-C, Kindle micro USB) and I wanted to know what cables and adapters I could use with which accessories, assuming the connectors are correct, specifically:

    • would any USB-C to USB-C cable work with a USB-C charger, or are certain cables only rated for certain chargers? It would be useful to use the same cable to charge my headphones and my MacBook Pro, for example.

    • is it safe to use higher-rated chargers with appliances (e.g. could I use my laptop 61W charger to fast charge my phone?)

    • is it safe to use lower-rated chargers with appliances (e.g. could I use my phone charger to charge my laptop?)

    • can someone recommend a good source for the differences between USB C, USB 3 and Thunderbolt?

    TIA!

    Budget 120hz+ Display, Any Resolution

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 09:15 AM PST

The reason I'm asking here is I'm doing this for a very specialised purpose (speed reading) so the actual resolution and size isnt important. Is there any type of display that I could get with minimal budget? I can't think of any reasons why something like this would exist, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of something that would work.

Female USB C to Male 3.5mm

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 08:52 AM PST

Hi I was given a set of headphones for Christmas and they look pretty cool but the only issue is they are a USB C port and I want to be able to use them with my Xbox one controller which only takes 3.5mm. All the products I have seen go from 3.5mm to USB C but I want to go the other way and cannot seem to find an adapter for me issue. If anyone knows of any and are able to link them that would be really appreciated. Thank you!

    Hue bridge/ lights help

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 04:49 AM PST

    Hi

I have just got a hue bridge and I plugged it in downstairs at my router then tried to connect my bulb that is upstairs in my bedroom and it says it's 'unreachable.' I was wondering if it would work if I brought Powerline adapters, plugged them into my WiFi box and room and plugged the bridge in my room? Not sure if that would be a good solution or not please help!!
