My PC (win10) suddenly is unable to read any usb flash drives or SD cards anymore.

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 10:55 PM PDT

All my USB drives shows up as not formatted RAW drives and windows will prompt to format it. But even if I click on format, windows will be unable to format it.

I've tried plugging the drives and cards to other laptops and computers and they work fine. Any ideas?

Do I need to shutdown my pc every night or can I just leave it on forever?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 05:10 PM PDT

At some point of my life, I stopped shutting down my PC every night. At first it was because I was lazy or I just forget about it but now it's a habit to just leave it on.

Are used to be always on but recently after thinking about it I started to get a little bit worried so I made it go to sleep after 30 mins.

Help needed for job after long hiatus

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 08:31 PM PDT

Hi, I really need help in this. I am a housewife living in Canada. I am planning to resume job after a long hiatus ( 8 years ). I did my MCA and worked at least 8 years ago in India as .Net developer, then I came to Canada. Now I want to start job and I know technology has changed a lot and pretty much with kids don't want to do coding much ( little bit is OK ), So to be in pace I am planning to do a certificate course or diploma from a college here. I feel that cyber security has a bright future and if I learn tools then I can accomplice the job with less coding ( I am not sure about this ). Can some one suggest me what course and from which college should I do course ? Is cyber security career is good ? If not then can someone suggest ?

    I will really appreciate...

Furbo Dog Camera original app now unsupported. Workaround?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 02:06 PM PDT

The original Furbo dog camera didn't require a subscription. The new ones do, and now the functionality of the old ones is not being supported unless you upgrade and subscribe to a paid, yearly package.

Is there a way to get an older version of an app? The camera works fine, it's just the app isn't working now.

Best way to hear tv better?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 11:37 PM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I often watch tv later into the night, and just movednin with a few friends and my tv is against a shared wall. I worry this might cause it to echo into his room, as the tv is about 10 ft from my bed, I don't listen to the tv too loud but still don't want this to cause him problems. Are there any surround sound, smart speakers, or devices I could place on the sides over my bed to play the tv audio? I've seen some surround sound devices but don't know if these are best for my situation, thanks for any help!

    Phone LTE Radio?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 04:23 PM PDT

Asking out of curiosity not necessity.

How possible would it be to use the LTE modems in phones for phone to phone voice channels (think CB radio).

Thought it was a neat idea for camping in national parks or similar when cell towers are sparse.

I would think its possible by data rate, but I know almost nothing about the transmit power of just a phone LTE modem. Additionally, LTE may only transceive on a protocol designed for communciation between phones and towers.

Thoughts? Just an idea I'm curious about.

    Webcam to Monitor

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 03:56 PM PDT

    Hello,

I recently purchased the lg 34wn80c-b monitor, which can charge and display from my MBA with a single thunderbolt cable from the monitor.

I'm starting online classes soon and, because the monitor doesn't have a camera, I am going to invest in a webcam.

I have a few questions. Will plugging in the webcam to a monitor work? If not, would the best workaround just be to purchase some kind of dock? If so, is there a dock that would support both a keyboard (usbc) and the webcam?

    Thanks for your help.

Would it be weird to quit my job over cybersecurity concerns?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 07:22 PM PDT

I'm not sure if this goes here, but if does not please kindly redirect me in the right direction. To make a long story short, I work at an Elder Law, Estate planning law firm. They maintain a lot of information on private servers about their clients, bank accounts, credit card information, social security information, medicaid information, housing information, family information, you name it.

Before I started working for the firm a lot of the computers had not had a windows update ran for years, defragmentation was turned off, microsoft one drive some how had sync disabled, and lenovo updates or hp updates weren't installed since 2016 depending on the system. The Microsoft office was outdated, and their pdf software was outdated, along with the printer's firmware.

I got written up for spending too much time on IT related issues when they apparently have an IT contractor.

How can I tell if my keycaps are removable?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 02:39 PM PDT

I have an alienware multimedia keyboard, and can't seem to find any information as to if I can remove the keycaps. However, it is getting dirty and I would really like to clean underneath the caps. Is there anyway to tell if I will damage my keyboard before I attempt to pry them off?

AC adapter replacement for Spin Bike

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 01:08 PM PDT

I'm looking to find a replacement adapter for my spin bike. I have one coming from the company but it's going to take at least a month to arrive and I'd like to get back to working out much sooner. I've gone through amazon but so far no luck. Here are the specs:

    Input: 100-240v, 50/60Hz 0.2A

    Output: 9V, 0.5A

Not sure if this info is helpful, but I also have this:

    QDID: 60912

    FCC ID: 2AMDBBLE002

I'm located in Canada so it needs to ship here (amazon.ca is preferable).

Please suggest any products or share any info you may have. Thanks!

    Portable Internet in the US

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 10:52 AM PDT

I've been officially made a remote worker at my tech job. What's the best way to have Internet on the go with unlimited data so that I can VPN into my work network and continue working. We camp at state parks and go places around Texas in general.

    Thanks

    2 routers for one modem/network

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 04:57 AM PDT

Okay so I'm needing some advice to know if what I have planned is feasible. The wife and I are moving to a HUGE house soon, and I'm trying to figure out the Internet situation, we're going to be using Cox Internet. There's going to be 3 main pieces of technology I'll be using that I already own: a Cox modem, a Netgear Nighthawk x10, and 3 of those little google wifi pods/routers. Basically what I had envisioned was to connect BOTH the nighthawk and the main google wifi router to the Cox modem, making it so that the nighthawk router supplies wifi to one end of the house, and then the google pods will be strung all the way to the other end of the house so that way there is a very fast and strong connection from one end of the house to the other. So basically I'm just curious on how easy this is, if it can be accomplished, and would the nighthawk and the google wifi pods be able to link and form one network, that way I don't have to connect to one wifi network when I'm on one end of the house and connect to another wifi network when I'm on the other end of the house. Thank you so much for your help, I have a pretty good knowledge of technology in general, but not too much experience in this area since I usually just use one router.

Is there a discernible difference beyond 60Hz for a computer monitor besides for gaming?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 04:53 AM PDT

Hi. So I've got an iPad Pro and I just love the 120Hz screen. Everything is so fluid and smooth, especially scrolling and moving around pages. Now, the monitor I'm currently using for my PC/Laptop 2nd display is a standard 60Hz 1080p monitor but I was considering upgrading to QHD. The thing is, I'm not a competitive FPS gamer who needs fast response times and refresh rates or whatever. Just general-purpose university work, browsing, video streaming and casual gaming.

My question is, if I'm getting a QHD monitor, is it still a good idea to get something with 120/144Hz? Would I even get the faster refresh rates if I use it as a second monitor for my 60Hz laptop?

    Thanks
