Using a Raspberry Pi as a router Posted: 12 Aug 2020 09:05 PM PDT I originally posted this in a raspberry pi related subreddit, but it was removed because it isn't a current project, though it may soon become one. Some clarification, I am an avid, fairly in depth Linux user for 12 years, and have tinkered with the Pi since the first version, some Pine boards, etc, so I am not entirely unprepared in terms of familiarity. That said, I trust others know far better than I, especially when the consensus I can find seems to warn against what I am trying to do. I was thinking of using the RPi as a router for my network. From my perspective, it seems well suited to the task. However, in my searches, I have found that it is generally considered a bad idea. I can think of several reasons why this may be the case:
With those points out of the way, would it really be that bad for a moderately knowledgable Linux user to use one of these as a router, am I being too ambitious, am I missing a glaring flaw? [link] [comments] |
Re-bind extra keyboard buttons? Posted: 12 Aug 2020 09:21 PM PDT I recently bought a new PC, and with it came a keyboard that has extra shortcut buttons on either side. Most of the buttons do things like pause/play or change volume, however two of the buttons act as shortcuts for opening apps. These two buttons appear to open whatever app I have set as my default browser and music player, and I was curious how I might be able to bind these buttons to open other things, not just browsers or music players. So my huawei p30 lite has started to slow down today? Posted: 12 Aug 2020 01:35 PM PDT 2 days ago i did an optimization and it was at 100% and throghout it's use time it never dropped below 97. A few hours ago i noticed that the phone was a bit laggy and kinda slow, so i went into optimisation and noticed my phone is only 60% optimized. Why did this happen and how can i fix this? I tried to restart but that didn't work, i have enough free space, what could've caused this? [link] [comments] |
A quick question about USB-C ports and controllers Posted: 12 Aug 2020 05:15 PM PDT Hi! Thanks for reading this, here's my query: I have a computer with 4 USB-A ports and 2 USB-C ports (one USB 3.1 controller for the A, one USB 3.1 controller for the C), soon I'll be adding a second display, it will be using a displayport connection, so I plan on using one of my USB-C ports for a USB-C to displayport cable, the only problem is I'm currently using both ports currently, and this is where my question regarding the controller comes into play. One of my C ports is connected to a USB hub, the other is connected to my Elgato CamLink, so if I do use one of my C ports for a displayport cable I'd have to connect the camlink to the hub connected to the other C port. I'm a bit of an idiot, so I don't know, but would my CamLink lose bandwith if it were connected to the hub rather than directly to a port of its own, or would it make no difference because it would all be going through the same controller and therefore the bandwith difference would be non-existant? Sorry if this is poorly worded, as I said, I'm a bit of a n00b with this stuff, was hoping you guys might be able to help me out though, thank you! :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Aug 2020 04:39 PM PDT As the title says, I was wondering what the differences are between home internet and wireless phone networks. Both services offer internet but why does my home internet have so many outages and issues where my cell phone does not? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Aug 2020 04:16 PM PDT Hi guys, i have started an online product selling bussiness with my friends and we all own 2 accounts each with multiple orders coming in and dispatched everyday. We all have invested some money equally and everyday we have to manage our purchase accounts collectively. Is there any type of software that you guys can recommend for me to use that can manage all the purchases, sellings, profits and expenditure of all accounts in one place? Preferably on cloud or some kind sync with all my friends pc's at the same time. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Aug 2020 02:04 PM PDT I am looking for some new peripherals, but I don't know which ones to choose. I have the budget to get 2 of the 3 things I want. My HD audio cable is broken, so I have no way of using audio thru my PC, I mainly use my phone (discord and teamspeak). My mouse is a generic logitech. And my keyboard is a redragon, which is actually not that bad. So should I get a new mouse and keyboard, mouse and mic, or mic and keyboard? I already have the selections for each one ready. Mouse: Glorious Model D- Keyboard: HyperX Alloy Origins Core Mic: Maono Mic (Which is actually a very solid mic for streaming and vc) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Aug 2020 07:11 PM PDT I would like to know how I could recover snaps and chats that I have sent and received in the past. I am looking for snaps from April and I am using the same phone that I was then. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Aug 2020 11:18 AM PDT For the sake of nostalgia, I'd really like to be able to incorporate the screensavers windows XP used to have. And the music player animations, they were so trippy! Is there a way I can access either (without bootcamp)? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Aug 2020 06:26 PM PDT should i spend more money getting a computer from a place like bestbuy or am i getting the same deal from a place like walmart? [link] [comments] |
How to add sections into video progress bar? Posted: 12 Aug 2020 09:55 AM PDT Similiar to new youtube feature, where a long video is broken into multiple section each covering a seprate topic. These topics could be viewed by scolling on video progress bar. I have personally experianced these, years ago, with pirated anime and porn video. Anime openings, ending, flashback were pointed. Similiary diffrent positions were marked in porn. How do I do same to my video. Is there a way to download youtube video with chapter/sections marked? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
