Is there any way to backup a phone when the screen won't turn on? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 01:31 PM PDT My boyfriend's Samsung Galaxy S7 phone screen has been extensively cracked for months without any issues but has suddenly stopped working tonight. He's able to unlock the phone using his fingerprint via the home button and the phone still vibrates when he receives notifications but the screen itself remains black no matter what. When connecting the phone to a laptop, it says "this device is not supported for file transfer" so we're currently unable to backup the phone via a cable. The only solutions for this problem we can find online require changing settings on the phone itself, which isn't currently possible. Is any way around this? Is it possible to backup the phone remotely via the PC? [link] [comments] |
I dont know if this is suitable for this sub but im really desperate Posted: 13 Jul 2020 03:54 AM PDT Someone leaked my nudes with all my personal info unto a porn site (anon-v and its linked domains) and the support and report button both dont work. Ive tried 'whois' and their contact info is hidden as well. Does anyone know any way to find out any way to contact that domain or the person/group that owns it? [link] [comments] |
Anyone know anything about cookies and websites that seemingly don't exist? Posted: 13 Jul 2020 01:25 AM PDT I am looking for someone that knows their stuff. I have .json files of my cookie history from my device that I shared with someone very close to me and I noticed a few sites that really stood out because 1) they had an outrageous number of cookies. 2) the sites did not appear in the browser history. 3) when I attempted to research these sites I could find absolutely nothing. Those things alone wouldn't be alarming, but the person I shared the device with has changed drastically in extremely negative ways over this past year and they focus an unhealthy amount of time on technology. When I looked the sites up I didn't get a single hit. When I went to the URL directly the page I was directed to was very strange and didn't make sense. I asked a friend who is in college for IT and she said they were black sites and something about a code hidden in the cookies and also when I tried to send the site names to her via FB messenger, FB would not allow it. For obvious reasons I won't list the sites or cookie data here, but if you think you could help please message me directly for total discloaure but any and all information and ideas would be welcomed. I desperately need to know what kind of sites these are because this person has been and could be around my child. [link] [comments] |

Help! Premier pro poor performance Posted: 13 Jul 2020 01:09 AM PDT My laptop is an Acer Nitro 5 with the specs of Ryzen 7 -3750H GTX 1650 32gb ram 256gb ssd + 1tb hdd. Every time I try to edit a few 4k clips it stutters and lags a lot. Performance feels like im editing on a shit tier pc. I did not expect to get these kind of performance from my device. I have to set my playback resolution to 1/8 just to get smooth playback and smooth scrolling thru my timeline. And sometimes even on 1/8 playback my timeline still tends to get choppy. Please help me. P. S. I have edited 4k footage on a lower spec laptop and did not experiece any issue like from the laptop I have. To compare the specs of that laptop it is i5 7th gen, 8gb ram (dual channel) , gtx 1050 , and 256 + 1tb storage combo. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Jul 2020 12:01 AM PDT I have started researching UPS devices, and so far it Looks like all of them have AC 230V Outputs. Since I am planning to use them for my Desktop PC, the screen, and an NAS, which all Need DC 12V or 5V (and 3.3V) in the end, I have been wondering if a UPS device exists that directly provides those DC Outputs (or at least one, that can be stepped down), because that should be much more efficient in Operation, considering the conversion to AC would be unnecessary, as well as the conversion from mains power back to DC. Does anyone know of such a device? Long term, I hope to assemble a Setup that would work on a boat. [link] [comments] |
If battery were not an issue how long a flagship lasts? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 08:12 PM PDT I have an s9 plus bought back when it was the 1000 bucks banger of the year, it's been two years since then and samsung goes a long way to make it feel like I have fossil in my hands but honestly? Had it not were for the battery lasting less it would still be an amazing phone so I made up my mind, first I rooted it (busting the already expired guaranty) and loaded the latest Android, now I'm thinking of replacing the battery with a kit since now it only lasts half a day and I'm starting to ask myself, how long does a flagship can stay fully functional under this circumstances? I think our current rate of two years it's a joke, specially for something that costs the same as a cheap car with newer prices at 1500 bucks or more [link] [comments] |
Recommendations for secure router for a bedroom in a shared living situation? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:57 PM PDT As the title explains, I'm concerned about the security of my devices from someone else I live with. I'm really sick of wondering and worrying about it and I just need it to be settled, to know for sure that everything's secure. I'm completely dense when it comes to technology, which doesn't help, but my understanding is that devices on the same network are more vulnerable to one another and that installing my own router for my bedroom might make my devices more secure. So my questions are a: is this accurate, and b: can you recommend a secure router that's not vulnerable to hacking but easy for a tech sense person to set up? I already use a splitter for my ethernet cables so I'm hoping I can just replace it with a router instead. Bonus if you could also recommend an indoor security camera with a wired connection that can sit on a surface (I'm renting) that isn't vulnerable to hacking, I'm getting really sick of having issues with Amcrest. Many thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Saving a copy of text on a page brings up Unicode Warning Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:34 PM PDT So, I copied a page from TV Tropes so I can keep the info handy. I pasted it to a notepad and tried to save it. It gave me a 'Text is in Unicode' warning. What did I copy that is in unicode? I usually only see this when I try to save Japanese words. Are their page links what its talking about? Should I worry about this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:11 PM PDT I have the Samsung DUO Plus USB flash drive and I've tested it using CrystalDiskMark (CDM). The results show that the sequential transfer rates are ~200 MB for read and ~30 MB for write. I also tried to copy the Ubuntu iso file (~2.5 GB) to and from the flash drive. When I copied TO the flash drive, it gave me transfer speed that are consistent with the CDM test. However, when I copied the iso file FROM the flash drive it copied in like 2 seconds. Why is the read speed test that CDM shows inconsistent with the time it took to copy the iso file from the flash drive to my laptop? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jul 2020 02:54 PM PDT With all the phones coming out with 3,4,5+ sensors + lenses, it feels like something's being wasted in the process. What would be the limiting factor in producing a single large, ultra-high-res sensor with multiple lenses, from which different sections of the sensor could be used? The reasons I can think of:
Are there other factors I may not be considering? Maybe there's some mirror and optics trickery that could reduce the required size of the sensor? I have very little knowledge of imaging sensor design and fabrication, so i wouldn't be surprised if my premise is flawed, but I hope someone could enlighten me. Edit: after a bit googling maybe mirror and optics trickery is the way to go, the International Journal of Optomechatronics seems to have a paper that seems to detail a method that wouldn't waste much sensor space (although i wonder about the resulting distortion and the required module thickness.) Is it possible to damage device with sketchy speakers connected via 3.5 mm jack? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 05:44 AM PDT I tried some "questionable" speakers and wondering if there is any mechanism of damaging a device through the 3.5 mm jack. Note the speakers had its own power supply, so it had additional power beyond what is supplied by the 3.5 mm jack. Is it possible to affect the device software-wise i.e. with a virus through the 3.5 mm? Is it possible to damage the device physically/electrically through the 3.5 mm jack e.g. fry the port/device with high voltage electricity sent through the cord? [link] [comments] |
Are piezoelectric pumpjets viable for nanorobots? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:57 AM PDT I recently found out about piezoelectric diaphragm pumps and I'm wondering if a similarly functioning device could be used to provide thrust for nanorobots for motion through liquids or maybe even gasses. Posted: 12 Jul 2020 10:31 AM PDT I have my PS4 on one side of my room and want to connect it to my tv on the other side of my room. Is it a reliable and good idea to purchase a 30 ft hdmi cable to connect the two? I don't need 4K or hdr or anything fancy. If so what cables should I buy? [link] [comments] |
What's the best External Hard drive for steam games and stuff? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:36 AM PDT Hello! Firstly thank you for answering! Ok so my little gaming laptop is starting to run low on storage (and because of the steam summer sale I bought like four new games all of them take a lot of storage and stuff) so I want some sort of external hard drive so I can download those games. So whats a good reliable drive to store these games on that is preferably ever a Terabyte and also relatively cheap. Here's kinda what I was thinking about but I don't know if it's good Also if there is anything weird I need to do to get my steam games on the drive would someone be so kind as to explain that as well? Thank you all for answering! I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question but I don't want to buy something I don't understand without asking someone. [link] [comments] |
