Why does scanning a document cost so much more than coping/printing at Fedex Office?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 12:25 PM PST

I have to copy and print large format documents, and scan them for digital copies.

The most recent one cost this much using the same machine:

4 sq. ft. Copy -$3.40 (paper and ink)

5 sq. ft. Scan - $19.95 (nothing used but power)

Why is it so much more to scan the document? Any help answering would be helpful!

    Cheapest HDMI to component solution?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 06:29 PM PST

Having a hard time parsing the buying options I don't wanna spend an extra ten twenty bucks on this if I don't have to, or buy the wrong thing.

I have a CRT in my room and occasionally id like to play a PC game or watch an old movie on it with either my laptop or rasberry pi. It only has the old red yellow white composite inputs.

Edit: Casual use, I don't care about latency or dropping frames or any of that stuff.

USB SSD diead after one day, 100% a counterfeit product, I need some help to understand how and possibly save the data

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 01:37 PM PST

    Hi everyone.

A friend of mine gave me an external SSD, 1TB capacity, because it stopped working one day after she bought it, and she needed help getting her data back. She used it once to copy some data on it. The next time she connected it to her computer, it didn't work.

Now I immediately understood it is a counterfeit product, because: 1)It's too cheap for a SSD of this size; 2)It's of an unknown brand (Proking. Ever heard of it?) 3)Amazon reviews are all positive and all posted in the same day. 4)On Amazon it says it's an HDD but it can't be with this size, and on the package it says it's a SDD. Nobody sells an SDD as an HDD.

But I still don't understand how it died so fast. I know those fake flash drives fake their actual size, causing possible data loss, but this one is just dead, and it used to work at first if she could move her data in it. It doesn't really make sense, it means that there is actually some flash memory in it but it is so bad it just burned in a day??

When I connect it to the PC, it appears in the disk manager but it says it has 0 bytes available and the text "No media" appears. I can't format it, I can't access any information about it from windows. On My Computer I can see it if I enable the "show hidden files" option but if I try to open it or do anything with it, it says the disk is not connected.

I tried everything that came into my mind but I couldn't do anything with it. I'd like to ask, how common is it to buy (on Amazon!) a fake USB drive that not only fake its capacity but dies in a day? And mostly, do you have any idea I could use to try to save the data in it? Or should I just give up?

Best options for streaming to projector?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 01:46 PM PST

Hi all. Thanks in advance for any help!

I recently just bought a VANKYO Performance V630 projector. And I am trying to figure out the best way to do 2 things:

    1) wirelessly stream video to the projector (thinking Chromecast or Roku) 2) play the audio wirelessly through my home stereo surround sound. I do have a Bluetooth receiver on the stereo system, but the projector is not Bluetooth

Hoping someone has some proven ways to do this. Thanks again!

I’m living in a country where there aren’t a lot of landlines. Just got ADSL installed at my apartment and they put this weird square looking satellite on the roof. How does ADSL work without old copper phone lines?

How do I know the resolution of my TV?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 02:58 PM PST

I bought a used plasma, it's a panasonic th-42ph11uk. I assumed it was 720p just from looking at the panel. It has hdmi inputs and accepts 1080p inputs.

I downloaded the manual, and it does list 1080p (https://imgur.com/a/OhcnJ9l) this is a manual for this specific TV too, not a series.

When I switch resolutions from the same input 1080p does look better than 720p, but not really sharper. If I play youtube from a ps3 on the TV it won't allow me to go higher than 720p on the videos.

Is the TV just accepting the 1080p signal and converting to 720p? I can't really tell and its driving me crazy!

    How reliable are Asus phones?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 11:56 AM PST

I was thinking of buying the new Asus ROG II, but the the only thing that's putting me off is how reliable that company's phones are.

Anyone with an Asus, how long has your phone lasted? Have they had problems develop? Was it covered in warranty? How is it? Do you get frequent updates?

How can I connect my bluetooth keyboard to a PS/2 port?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 06:58 AM PST

I have a bluetooth keyboard that can switch to three different bluetooth devices. I would like to connect to my work computer and my personal laptop and be able to switch between the two. The kicker is that the work computer does not have bluetooth and I am not allowed to use the USB ports or make hardware changes.

Is there a way to connect my bluetooth keyboard to ps/2 port?

Is there any way to display a console on a laptop screen?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 06:28 AM PST

For example if wanted to play my Nintendo Switch but all I had was my laptop on hand and I didn't want to play handheld mode. Could I do it with a capture card or something? Because I know I can't do HDMI since there's no in port on the laptop.
