    The Phone suddenly stopped working..

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 11:45 PM PDT

Hello guys..So I own a samsung j7 2016, although the old model it is very well preserved. A couple of days ago it just stopped working and gives no reaction. I tried all the methods from the internet but nothing worked (hard reset and battery removal methods as well as recovery mode). The battery is working, and the phone has no visible signs of damage. Any suggestions?

Help me choose a tablet to accompany my laptop

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 03:05 AM PDT

I'm a university student looking for a tablet to pair with my Lenovo Ideapad S340. I'm mainly looking to use it for taking handwritten notes and annotating lecture slides. I don't expect to do anything too "heavy" on it since it will be mostly supplementing my laptop, but I want it to be able to handle multiple tasks at once.

I've looked into the iPad Air, iPad Pro, Surface Go, and Surface Pro, but am not too sure which one will fit my needs best. I feel that the pro versions of the tablets are a little bit of overkill for my needs right now but know that they offer more reliability and better user experience. Another concern I have is the compatibility of the devices since I'm sure I'll be transferring files all the time. My budget is $1.1k, but would love to save as much money as I can to use for tuition. I'm also super open to other options, so please hit me with your recommendations!

Any good recommended USB switch that can handle wireless peripherals?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 10:52 PM PDT

So I wanna connect my peripherals to 3 PCs (2 Linux & 1 Windows). I have a Logitech G915 wireless gaming keyboard & M705 wireless mouse. I also have a K400 wireless keyboard + touchpad that I use from time to time when I need to be far away.

And out of curiosity, if it does work, will I still be able to reassign devices with Logitech Unifying Receiver or customize my G915 with G Hub?

Looking for a home camera, not for security purposes. Any advice?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:02 AM PDT

I'm looking to buy a camera for my home. Specifically, I would like a camera that can sit on a table top and record video in 360 degrees. I would like this camera to be able to record for at least 16 hours and save the footage on something like a memory card.

I've been looking at the Samsung gear 360 camera, which was almost perfect for this. The only trouble is, it only holds about 2 hours of battery life and it isn't possible to record while charging, so something like a power bank is out of the question.

I don't know if this is the right forum to post in, but I was hoping some of you guys might have any ideas on what camera to buy. I've been looking on the internet for a few days, but it is difficult to find anything like what I'm asking for.

Can anyone offer any help? All input appreciated.

What should the process be for burning a video to a disc?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 07:55 PM PDT

I'm wanting to make copies of my wedding video for others. I made the video in DaVinci Resolve and exported to MP4 with the H.264 codec. I then used Windows 10's built in burning feature using the bottom option to burn it. Did I make an error somewhere in here?

Most online resources just talked about the burn part, not the actual file I'm trying to burn.

Is the laser on the Logitech G700S mouse dangerous?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 07:44 PM PDT

    Link here: https://www.logitechg.com/en-hk/products/gaming-mice/g700s-rechargeable-wireless-gaming-mouse.html

The on and off switch for this mouse is on the bottom, which means I have to flip it over to turn it off. It uses a laser, which I know can be dangerous. Is it likely that flipping the mouse over to turn it off is going to do anything to my eyes?

    Is CNET a legitimate website?

Every time in the past when I've downloaded something from there, my computer got some kind of virus. However, at the moment Avast says it's a trusted website. Is it actually an ok website, or is it still a scummy website?

Could you get away with using an unreturned Xfinity Modem?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 03:45 PM PDT

I used to have Comcast Xfinity with my ex and the account was under her name.

When we cancelled our internet service the rented and branded Comcast Xfinity modem was never returned. I knew where it sat for a couple years just not being used after we split up. I'm sure that comcast probably just charged her for it and it was deemed as lost or unreturned or whatever on Comcast's behalf.

Now I'm getting Xfinity under my name. I'm paying the $15 dollar Modem rental fee for one month and then I plan on getting my own modem to ditch the fee.

Let's say theoretically if I could find my exes unreturned modern would I be able to use it? Or would comcast know somehow that it is one of their branded units that was never returned? And if they did know that would they know who's account it was under / would they be mad about it / would they ask me to return it or not allow it to work?

    Wiping an old hard drive

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 11:47 AM PDT

I have taken a hard drive out of an old computer that doesn't work anymore. Now I want to wipe and reformat it to be an external storage drive. Is there any reason why I shouldn't be able to do this? First I tried reformating like you normally would but there is no option to do that. Then I tried going to "diskmgmt.msc" and converting it to dynamic memory but then I get an error saying "This operation is not supported by the object". What can I do?

Using PC to control non smart TV and Projectors?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 06:39 AM PDT

I few years ago I came across apps for iPhones that do this. They would send a generic infrared signals to TV. It was hit and miss but the iPhone could control the TV just like its remote.

I wish to emulate my projectors remote button, standby on/off through my PC. So that with a hotkey I can get it to go into standby mode with my keyboard

Are there any tools such as a USB dongle or software that I can buy that would allow for this? Thanks
