Best options for user-friendly secure comms, website / data exchange, etc? Posted: 19 Apr 2020 04:51 AM PDT Hello tech gods! I'm volunteering with an activist group and trying to help organize secure comms options for them - there are some potential legal and press battles ahead, so they are taking security pretty seriously. For messaging I'm assuming Signal is best, but for the rest? Is Tor best for browsing or are there easier / better alternatives? Would any password-protected website (Wordpress etc) be sufficiently secure for sharing info, documents, etc or is there a better alternative? An alternative option for Google docs / Drive that will allow for interactive editing and sharing of documents that is more secure? Additionally, none of us have much tech knowledge so striking a balance between security and accessibility is useful. Thanks so much for any advice! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Apr 2020 05:39 PM PDT So, I scanned my computer and the first output said it scanned 17,000 files, but then I scanned it again and it said it scanned 15,000 files. It told me there was no problems, but now I'm worried why the number dropped. Would anyone know why it's doing this? Is it because I had a flashdrive hooked up, or is something wrong? Question about replacing remote on Insignia tv Posted: 18 Apr 2020 09:04 PM PDT My remote (model: NS-RC4NA-18) for my insignia tv (model: NS-40D420NA18) is unresponsive. Changed batteries, tried everything, still does not work. May have been water damaged or something, not really sure. Can I buy the same model remote on ebay and will it work? I know some devices like logitech wireless keyboard and mice have unique usb transmitters and because of this you cant just buy a replacement transmitter if it breaks or you lose it. Are ingisnia tv's like this? [link] [comments] |

Any Alternative to Netcraft (Anti-Phishing) Extension for Firefox? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 12:41 PM PDT As the title says. Any alternatives that anyone knows or recommends to the Netcraft Anti-Phishing extension for Firefox? I have used it for years but since it isn't a mainstream product I am not sure if its safe to use. The main reason I use it is to look up who the web host is for a website. That way I know if a website is hosted by Shopify or Google or Microsoft or whatever. Any alternatives or other suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Apr 2020 10:45 AM PDT Hi, so our WiFi has always been slow at our house. We're paying premium price for terrible connection with Verizon. We have a modem connected to our phone line and when I do a speed test it's usually .4 MBPS download and .08 MBPS upload. The 4G on our phone is a ton faster. According to Verizon the problem is the phone lines on our road are very old. So is there anything from Verizon (or anyone for that matter) that we can get WiFi from without having to plug into our phone line? If so, what do you guys suggest? The main thing we are trying to do is have two PS4s on the WiFi at the same time without a ton of lag. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Is my samsung galaxy s6 better than an iphone xr? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 04:38 PM PDT They were made so far apart and both considered good when made but when i look up the specs the s6 seems better. Please help. [link] [comments] |
Why does having my ISP (Cox) reset my modem work better than me resetting it myself? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 03:46 PM PDT Recently I have been having really bad packet loss issues and it is constant even if I reset my modem and router. However, if I get on chat with cox and they reset the modem from their end, my packet loss issues seem to go away at least for a day. Do they do something different when they reset it? How to identify devices connected to the same Wi-Fi? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 08:12 AM PDT Is there a method or software that enables you to see all other devices that are connected to the same network you are connected to? let it be a public or private one. [link] [comments] |
If I’m IP banned from an app is there anyway to bypass this? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 10:45 AM PDT I'm not entirely sure how ip addresses work, is it connected to just the device or anyone using the same router? My IP is banned on tik tok and I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can get around this, I've been trying for the past month with no success. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Apr 2020 09:12 AM PDT Good day people, I have to start saying that today was my first day trying out cable and not wi-fi. The problem is that once i try to access this message apears: cannot connect to dhcp server. I already tried the basic things like restarting the xbox and the modem but nothing works. I must say that this cable works, i had it in a pc and everything worked good enough. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
How can I disable a part of my PC monitor? Posted: 18 Apr 2020 08:13 AM PDT Hi, I've partially damaged my PC monitor, but since it's ultra-wide I can still use some 70% of it. The problem is that the 30% on the side is unusable, so I don't have access to anything displayed there (Windows desktop, browser, other programmes like games). I need to set a custom resolution for the monitor, which would correspond to the native resolution (3440 x 1440), just with a portion cut out from one side (so e.g. 3000 x 1440). If I just set a different resolution in Windows then of course it still fills the whole screen, just with a forced lower resolution, so that's no help. Any ideas? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Picture on Wall Visualisation App / Software help Posted: 18 Apr 2020 07:52 AM PDT Hi, I am doing a small marketing presentation and I need to display some images in this fashion What software or APP has this person used to superimpose images into the multiple canvases ? I don't mind paying, but it's really just a one off task I need to do. I have tried a few Apps and websites but they look clunky and i really like the sleek design used by this guy. Many thanks [link] [comments] |
