I found a picture of my clone/doppelganger- but can't find them!

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 02:53 AM PDT

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I figured I'd try. Someone found a photo of a person that looks EXACTLY like me to the point where it's creepy, like a long lost identical twin. No one has been able to tell the difference, not even my brothers. However, it's only one image that was circulating on the web. I tried reverse searching it but all that came up was a bunch of sketchy sites in various languages and people using it as fake profile pictures. I kind of want to see how much resemblance there is and if it's just the angle, maybe even contact this person. Just cuz it's cool and I know I'll never see a doppelganger like this again, I have kind of unusual features. I don't want to overstep boundaries to an extreme extent, but if the situations were swapped I'd want them to at least try to reach out. Can anyone give me advice as to how to find the original/if that's even possible?

How do I listen to fm radio without internet?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:47 AM PDT

I looked up old fashioned radios and all I se e is some wood finished boxes on amazon

Edit: thanks for the sensible responses.

My inability to search the google properly got some people got waaay to excited to discover a person ignorant of radios! 😀

I did not think to search for FM radio ... because it has been so long since I used a radio. I kept looking for old radio, old fashioned radio etc with predictable results and frustrated me.

Apologies for getting your hopes up. We are still a few years away from complete ignorance of am/fm radios.

I need suggestion on encrypting my posts?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 02:46 AM PDT

Hi, I have created a VIP Telegram channel with +150 real and willing members, and I post stocks signal in there and decided to make it a paid channel so I set a monthly fee and I'm gonna start the subscription from Monday. So far, only few members paid for the subscription and the majority haven't paid me yet.

I was thinking to keep all the members but somehow set a password for special posts and only send the pass to those who have paid. I don't think you can do such thing in Telegram, but is there any website or app that you can set password for your post and share the post on Telegram?

Any suggestion or help would be much appreciated

Which laptop cooling pad design works better - the one big fan style, or the many smaller fans style?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 08:01 PM PDT

I realize that brand A 6 small fans might work better than brand B 1 big fan, for a multitude of reasons, but I am wondering which design generally is better at cooling.

Is it the battery or something else?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 11:21 PM PDT

I have this free phone that I was using and it's not working anymore. It has an ANS logo on the front. I was browsing Facebook with it and when I opened a link and tried to zoom into an article, the phone shut off and it won't turn back on.

The odd thing is, it won't even charge. I've plugged multiple different (compatible) chargers up to it and it won't charge at all, nor turn on.

Any idea as to what happened to it? The battery is built-in BTW.

    I suspect it's the battery...

Can someone help me conceptualize a semi-conductor?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:30 AM PDT

I don't understand how such small things are able to be placed so precisely by the trillions which receive electrons and then are redirected be even tinier things.

I just can't conceptualize how that's possible, so I'm guessing I have a basic misunderstanding.

    Thanks.

How do I get wired internet in my home office from the living room router?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 05:46 PM PDT

    Please pardon the noob question.

My home WIFI is from a cable internet. A Cisco router plugs into the wall with a Ethernet cable and we get our internet like that.

My work requires I connect my work issued laptop through a LAN cable and not WIFI, but there's no ethernet outlet in the home office, so I can't move the router there.

What are my options asides from having to move the home office to the living room where the router is located?

Thanks a lot for the help

PS: Pardon me if I am not using very clear terms, I'm just a novice trying to get by

Is 600mbps enough bandwidth for two simultaneous video calls?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:32 PM PDT

I am a college student and I'm heading back to my parent's place to quarantine. My dad is hosting a television show from his study where he will be interviewing the prime minister of a major country. Obviously it's important that this go smoothly so he's trying to do everything possible to make his internet connection stable. He's going to be using ethernet to cover all his bases.

So the problem is my dad is insisting that everybody else in the house (me, mom, sister, sister's bf) disconnect all their devices from wifi for the duration of the call. I have an online class at the same time as the interview and attendance is mandatory. I'm 99.9999% sure that our 600mbps connection is more than enough for us to do the interview and class at the same time. He will be using the webcam on his macbook air.

    Can anyone confirm?

Should PhotoDNA should be included in more places on the internet?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:06 PM PDT

I came across PhotoDNA which is used to identify known videos and images of child sexual abuse images (CSAI) or "Child Porn". It makes it easier for law enforcement to screen out known cases and focus on the new ones, but it also has other two known benefits:

    • Protecting end users from being accidentally exposed to this ghastly content.
    • Prevent re-victimization of those depicted in this content.

I do wonder if it's possible for PhotoDNA to be installed into operating systems like Windows and Mac, browsers of ALL kinds including Chrome, Firefox & Tor. If a known video or image of CSAI is detected, could these browsers be configured in such a way as to prevent the image from ever being loaded onto the users screen if user comes across an illegal image?

I came across this idea from a post by someone who said: Professor Farid's suggestion was that this scanning technology should be incorporated into all major web browsers.

If a criminal attempts to transfer his or her CSAI collection over to their new computer, could the operating system will disallow it from being transferred? In this instance, could the system also be configured in such a way as to automatically report the user to the relevant authorities?

It's clear that society should do more to protect children from being molested and rape.

My ISP installed our WiFi using 4 (1 foot) coax cables and 3 splitters. Would I be better off just changing them out for a single coax cable?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 03:43 PM PDT

    To summarize:

Coax for Internet comes from wall, goes into a 3 way splitter with only 1 output being used. This output goes into a 2 way splitter, and this 2 way splitter only uses 1 output which goes into yet another 2 way splitter which only uses one output that leads to a combo modem/router.

Can I just replace that whole set up with a coax going from the wall to my router/modem? Would I see a noticeable upload/download speed difference?

Do wireless keyboards have reduced latency with their usb cable plugged in?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:41 AM PDT

It's all in the title. I cannot for the life of me find a 60% mechanical wired keyboard, but I don't want to feel gummy while playing games.

    Which laptop is better?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 09:54 AM PDT

Which of these laptops is better performance wise?

    https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VivoBook-i7-8565U-S532FL-DB77-Transparent/dp/B07SXTNRY3

    or

    https://www.samsclub.com/p/asus-2in1-touchscreen-fhd-notebook-intel-core-i58250/prod22380453?xid=plp_product_1_3

I ordered the amazon one because it seemed like a steal. All the other laptops w/ those specs are upwards of $900. It also has the silver color, and big screen with minimal framing (bezel I think its called?) I really wasnt planning on spending more than 700 but this looked like a steal.

however I saw the sams club one after I ordered the amazon, and idk if its better. It does have 2 TB space but idk if ill ever use that much space. It is cheaper, but it has i5? I've also heard the amazon one doesnt have the best graphics or settings for any gaming (thats what I base performance off of unfortunately). I went with i7 over i5 processor and 512 gb because I dont think anything over that will be necessary, however I would like to know which deal is more optimal in terms of money to performance and features. I know nothing about processors so if someone could explain what the difference is i would appreciate it

    thank you

I'm not a huge gamer or video creator but in the event that I did want to transition to those I would like the option to be available to me.

What's the name of the graph-making program commonly used to visualize release cycles and forks of other software?
