I have a couple of options - a budget friendly teclast (either T30 or M16, not sure which is better) or a huawei (m6 or matepad). I can afford the huawei tablet, but if I have to be honest I am not sure if I want to spend so much money, especially if the cheaper alternative is also good. A friend of mine said that budget tablets usually start lagging after six months and after a year they are practically useless. I plan to use the tablet for studying, work (I need Microsoft office for that), gaming from time to time and watching movies. So I have 3 choices to pick from. Here are the three laptops: - MSI: GL63 8SD | i7-8750H | GTX 1660 Ti 6GB | 16GB |15.6" FHD - ASUS ROG Zephyrus AMD Ryzen 7 GA502 - ASUS ROG Strix G531GT I know next to nothing about laptops, so I'm looking for the laptop that best meets these requirements: - Longer battery life as I often experience power shortages and require the laptop for work - Able to play ARK Survival Evolved and FIFA 20 - doesn't need to be highest settings - that's the only games I really play - Will last me at least 3 years without needing an urgent upgrade (hardware wise) - Has a decent built in mic - Has HDMI port - Can handle multiple Chrome tabs without lagging out - Bluetooth (not a necessity) - Capable of dual screen / split screen / using two monitors - Durable - I have cats, but generally take good care of my stuff Sorry I suck at this, if possible please help. I am splurging on getting a new cpu so I really don't want to spend a whole lot on a motherboard. Microcenter has two motherboards I was looking at for only 60 bucks after their promotion. Asus PRIME B450M-A/CSM - https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-B450M-A-CSM/specifications/ AsRock B450M Pro4 - https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M%20Pro4/#Specification At first I thought Asus was a top tier brand but it might be the case where they don't make very good low end motherboards. I kinda don't trust my own browser, or windows 10. I was thinking on a virtual machine with either windows or linux installed, just a nice clean environment. Or does anyone else have a better idea? And no, i am not looking forward to using any password managers. | Posted: 24 Apr 2020 01:10 AM PDT Hi! to make a long story short, my boyfriends roomate is on the game 24/7 yelling all night / day. we finally changed the wifi password and had him disconnected. i find out today, he has an ethernet cord. can he somehow connect back to the internet via Ethernet without the password? we assume hes using a Hotspot, but hes been on said hotspot since 8pm and its now 4am, and hes up yelling. once again, which makes me assume otherwise. thanks! Posted: 23 Apr 2020 08:02 PM PDT Might be the wrong sub but Audio/Video people of reddit, I'm trying to route two VHS players into the Statikstraments Circuit Bend Video Distorter (link in comments) through its two video in components. I want to then route the Circuit Bend Distorter video out to a VCR recorder that'll be connected to a CRT TV to capture the results on a blank VHS tape. After all that is done, I want to convert the tape to a digital video file with a video component to HDMI cable. Would this work? Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:18 PM PDT I had used the Samsung Data Migration tool to clone my laptop's internal Samsung SSD onto a Samsung T5 external SSD. I then wiped/reset Windows. How do I restore my laptop using the data from the T5 external SSD? I don't have an external enclosure for an M.2 SSD, but I do have an external 2.5" drive enclosure and a 2.5" Samsung SSD. I'm thinking to use the external enclosure to boot from the 2.5" drive on my laptop, connect the T5, then try using the Samsung Data Migration tool. Would this work? [link] [comments] |
| Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with my laptop/charger? Posted: 23 Apr 2020 09:52 PM PDT My laptop is not charging anymore and I'm not quite sure what's wrong. The light that indicates it is charging is repeatedly turning on and off whenever it is plugged in (anyone know what that means?). When I take the battery out, the light doesn't turn on when it is just plugged in and only does so when the power button is pressed. I can still turn on the laptop so I'm pretty sure that the battery still works but I have refrained from doing that since I know that the battery is at around 1%. Posted: 23 Apr 2020 09:04 PM PDT Whenever I use both a music player and Twitch, my play/pause button is hijacked by Twitch until I press stop. after pressing stop, play/pause will work with my music player but if I unpause Twitch, it will hijack the play/pause button again. It seems like the data on our phones is potentially more "sensitive" than what our desktop stores about us. This video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXJIByS4OTI ) discusses a similar point. Our smartphones have microphones, cameras and location tracking constantly. Our desktop computers on the other hand are limited to tracking our information when we're near them or interacting with them. [link] [comments] |

Lately, after she ends a remote session with a specific practice her computer never returns to the correct time zone. This is an issue because everyone is working from home using laptops. So they remote to their work computers from their laptops, and then use their work computers to remote to computers at other locations. the work computer is the computer that gets its time permenantly thrown off. When this happens they can't remote to their work computers from their laptop anymore because the time has been thrown off on their work pc, so I have to manually connect to their work pc and resync their time. Just curious what could be causing this? Bad CMOS battery in work computer? Something off with settings of the computers at the other practices? I would appreciate any help! [link] [comments] |

| Trying to find more of Windows 10's useful features for me Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:04 AM PDT I just discovered something today called "Storage Sense" in Windows, a feature that I had no idea existed before this moment. It looks like it would be extremely useful, not because I run out of disk space, but just because it cleans out my temporary files. I also discovered that I could press Win Tab and instead of seeing just my currently open programs (which is useless to me since I have alt+tab), I can see recent programs and webpages, assuming I used Microsoft Edge. Sometimes on multiple computers! That got me thinking though. I've been using Windows pretty much the exact same way since Windows 98. Start menu, control panel, etc. But now that Windows 10 is here, there seems to be a plethora of new features that I'd never seen before. I was wondering, are there any cool ones that you guys like to use? I tried googling it, and the only ones I found that were interesting were the virtual desktops. The other tips were things like "use OneDrive" and "Windows has a calculator you should use" lol. [link] [comments] |
| Trying to host a live art conference with multiple presenters Posted: 23 Apr 2020 01:33 PM PDT I work for an art gallery that was going to have a conference in May where about 200 people come to the gallery and see 10 different presenters do a demonstration/speech in their own 30 minute time slot. Obviously we can no longer host this gathering in person so we are trying to do an online version. I want to know which streaming platform is best to use to host this conference. Ideally it had the following features: -I maintain control of all the presenters (I can mute them, or cut their presentation at any time) -The presenters can present live in real time -some of the artists presenting will be streaming from other countries like England and Italy -I can stream the conference on facebook live and instagram live, as well as on a website that doesn't require anyone make an account or download anything (like Zoom). This is important because many of the attendees are older and are not tech literate. It would be best if I could just be able to put a button on my website that says "CLICK HERE TO SEE THE CONFERENCE" -It isn't important that we can see the attendees, but ideally there could be a Q&A feature where they can type in questions that the artists can read and answer aloud in their stream -I need to be able to record the conference and post it on youtube afterwards. Thanks to anyone who can offer insight into how I should proceed. This annual conference is a big deal to a lot of folks and they were upset to hear it was cancelled.
