Is the intel i7 16GB configuration Surface laptop 3 worth the extra price than the i5 8GB? Posted: 26 Nov 2019 02:11 AM PST Both the processors are intel 10th gen and rams are ddr4 with 256gb ssd. Firstly, I am pretty fixed on buying a surface but i am open to other windows suggestions (no mac). Next I'll be using it for the basic things netflix/vlc/browsing and i will be multitasking with many tabs of chrome and other apps. Apart from the regular use, I'll use it for coding (MS visual code) with Anaconda and Java. I wont use it for training but I will be using google colabs(which freezes sometimes on my current pc). The i7/16gb version currently costs $1300 while i5/8gb costs $1000. Thanks in advance!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Nov 2019 02:37 AM PST Hey guys, about 4 years ago I bought a old Razer blade 2014. I still have it and it works, except the batter is dead and I need to buy a new wifi card for it and my charging cable makes clicking sounds whenever I use it so I would like to buy a new one. It has a i7-4702HQ and 8 gigs of RAM. I recently just went back to school and I've been having to use the school ones because of the problems I said above and just because it would make my life easier I would just need it for research and email, with maybe a bit of light Photoshop. Should I spend the money to fix it up or do I just buy a new one? If i should buy a new one do you guys have a advice on what I should get? [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to connect a second screen wirelessly to your pc? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:19 PM PST I noticed Windows 10 has a wireless monitor feature, but it seems it only reproject what is being viewed on a screen. Is it possible to connect to a screen wirelessly and have it work as a second monitor? What adapter would I need? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2019 06:15 PM PST Obviously it wouldn't publish to the actual website because duh?? The notes would be completely private to the devices I've set it up with [link] [comments] |
What do you do when a laptop blue-screens because of a benchmark test? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:19 PM PST A friend of mine has a laptop that they were complaining crashes and freezes all the time so I decided to run PassMark benchmark test on it to see the results and it bluescreen'd because of it. There is something fundamentally wrong with the computer but I have no clue where to even start to try and fix it. Anyone have any advice? [link] [comments] |
Should you learn Kotlin before you learn anything else? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 04:02 PM PST I see it described as "general purpose" which I'm wondering if that makes it good for "pre-coding" before learning other languages [link] [comments] |

USB Microphone or Headset. Which should I get? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:56 PM PST Hi, I want to start recording my computer screen and my voice to put up videos on YouTube. I initially was thinking all I needed is a decent microphone since I can already record my screen. So I ordered a simple one. Then I realized I have some remote training coming up, and the trainer recommends a headset rather than using speakerphone. So I ordered this nice pair of USB headphones with mic (had really great ratings). Do you think the headphones will suffice for all of my needs, such that I can return the individual microphone? Or would the individual work better for a YouTube video (or Podcast) and I should return my headphones and use my speakerphone? I just haven't done either of these things before so I'm not sure which equipment is right for the job. I'm not looking for anything spectacular but I want the YouTube videos to come out with good quality audio and I want to make sure I can hear what I need to and contribute during my training. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

How to prevent aux cord in car from wearing out? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:19 PM PST Ever since I moved t Arizona, the aux cords in my car have only lasted from weeks to months before I have to constantly adjust it to make it work. I read online that heat can deform the cable, so I got an aux-to-Bluetooth adapter to avoid any movement issues but now the safe thing is happening. Is there anything I can do to fix and/or prevent this issue? [link] [comments] |
Is there a virtual phone app that doesnt look like voip Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:09 PM PST I've been trying to do signups for various companies for the cash incentives. I use a text now phone number because it's free, but a lot of sites won't accept a VoIP number. Is there a cheap or free virtual phone I can do that they cant tell is voip? [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to profit off of a broken desktop monitor? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 06:21 PM PST So i have a 27" dell monitor with a cracked screen and after a lot of asking around my area noone wants to even attempt to repair it and the damage is outside of warranty. So i thought i'd just profit from any part of it. Are the parts still valuable? Sellable at all?? [link] [comments] |
Anyone know what these cables are called? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 05:28 PM PST image. I'm trying to find longer cables for my 3D printer, but I have no idea what these cables are called. There's 3 cables in the picture. One has a 12v barrel connector to a 3-pin connector (with only 2 pins wired), a 3-pin to 3-pin connector wire, and lastly, a 3-pin split to a 2pin connector (x2). I tried searching for "fan connector extension cable" and such, but I've got nothing helpful. Searching for pwm cables don't help either. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:54 AM PST Hey guys, We moved into our house and there are speakers like this throughout the kitchen and living room. Out in the garage there are different colored wires. I am not an audio expert so I was seeing if anyone knows how to hook a speaker up. What kinds of speaker system would we need to buy to hook it up with exposed wires like that. Do the audio/EQ settings for my TV affect the sound quality/output of my soundbar? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 08:44 AM PST If I change the bass or the sound type, will that have any effect on the bass or sound clarity coming from the soundbar? Or is the sound from the soundbar entirely controlled by the limited controls of the soundbar itself? [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to get a wired connection from a wireless access point (AT&T)? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:02 PM PST I'm trying to get an Ethernet connection for my Xbox but the router in my home is attached to my laundry room wall, so the only thing I have access to in the WAP in my living room. However my Xbox doesn't appear to be getting any sort of connection from it. Anyone know why this is the case? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:35 PM PST I'm looking for a device that I can plug into a USB or ethernet port to extend the reach and improve my wifi signal. I know that Wifi Extenders exist (a device that plugs into a wall outlet and syncs with the main router), however that is not what I am looking for. The current wifi available is a hotspot (limited and therefore I can't use it for everything) and there is a nearby wifi network that I have the password for, I can connect to the network with one bar, but as soon as I try to load anything I get disconnected. I do not have access to the router of the nearby network. To repeat, I'm looking for a device/antenna that I can plug in to extend my (laptop's) reception. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:03 AM PST Got a cyber security B.S. 2 years ago and currently a cyber security analyst but i've taken interest with getting into the cloud. So here's my checklist so far and was wondering if i'm missing anything to get myself started on the right track (not really trying to spend much $ so trying to start through free resources and a udemy course a friend's letting me use) -Get familiar with linux through linuxjourney -Get familiar with python through https://www.udemy.com/course/python-basics-for-the-beginning-enthusiast/ and personal mini projects -Practice labs through AWS free tier -Study and obtain AWS Cloud Practitioner Should I familiarize myself with linux/python first? or should I familiarize myself with AWS first so I have a good idea of how I would need to apply linux/python to the cloud while learning the [link] [comments] |
