Looking for a specific image on a website.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 10:02 PM PST

Alrighty, my current English teacher recently set up a challenge to find a picture of Baby Yoda on her website. Now, I've been looking for quite a while, and I cannot find it anywhere. So I was wondering if there are any programs or software that would allow me to search for a specific image on a website?

Why does my phone randomly start playing audio media after I get a notification?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 06:14 PM PST

My Samsung S9 will start playing whatever audio I was listening to last (Spotify or Pocket Casts) about.... 50% of the time. It's when my screen is asleep mostly but sometimes happens when I am actively using the phone. The other day it paused the youtube video I was watching and started playing my spotify playlist.

looking for KVM switch advice with 2 computers and 2 monitors

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 12:54 PM PST

Hey guys, i'm looking for some advice on the kind of switch I need to accomplish the set up I want.

I would like to be able to switch my 2 monitors (hdmi preferred but can use any input/output) between my 2 computers as I wish. Sometimes 1 monitor for each computer, sometimes 2 monitors on 1 computer, etc.

I also have 2 different audio setups. With my work computer, even if I'm using both monitors I will only want my audio coming through my headphone/mic set up and no speakers. If I'm on my fun computer I want to be able to switch between a setup using either my external speakers or a headphone/mic setup if gaming online.

Currently I have 2 sets of headphones, 2 keyboards, and 2 mouses, but I would like to consolidate it to one mouse and one keyboard, and then if possible 1 headset, for both. But i'm thinking if I want to ever use both computers at once, I'll have to have 2 sets of everything, right? Or could I continue to easily switch between the two computers as needed using the same keyboard/mouse input via the switch?

    https://www.amazon.com/Extended-CKL-Microphone-Keyboard-CKL-922HUA/dp/B07KN4J2XD?fbclid=IwAR0ewmw049lNabn5bXM6mv6T82zQn3zzyS8x5lGhrXCqwk6cQs9R8n-gRZw

this seems to tick all my boxes, do you guys notice anything that's missing or that is an extra feature that I wouldn't need? I'm really looking for the cheapest way to get the things I need, but this is my first time dealing with switches and I really dont want to end up with something overpriced for my needs or that is missing the features I want.

Thanks so much for any and all help!

This is a silly question, but on podcasts like joe Rogan what purpose does their headphones serve? Are they used to hear the other person better?

Some Asian guy hacked into my fathers facebook, and changed everything, he changed my dads name to his youtube name, where his channel shows proof of him hacking peoples facebook accounts via Facebook Lite.

Where do I submit this proof to so I can recover my fathers account? The guy changed the phone number and email linked to the recovery of the password for the account.

Father giving me a headache over his lost account. Really pissing me off.

    Work VPN

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:01 AM PST

I am working from home, and of course spotify/YT/etc. are blocked while I'm on VPN.

Is there any way to use my regular network for these sites/apps instead of through VPN?

    Ads not based on search

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 03:43 PM PST

I know that a lot of the ads we see are based on our search history and other data that Google collects. But I also see random ads on websites that I never searched for. Like on random websites or flash-based websites such as kiss-anime, there are porn and hentai ads that I've never looked up. "Choose a [anime] girl," "Sexy women in this area", "Caution this game contains xyz" and so on.

    Remote doorbell/intercom system (WCIF?)

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 03:09 PM PST

Not sure if this is a good place to request assistance or post a WCIF but if anyone can offer some input, I'll be very grateful.

Some background: I spend a lot of time outside the house/down the garden in a home office setup. This is a very new development and one issue I've yet to find a good workaround for is how to interact with visitors and/or delivery drivers ringing the main doorbell to find an 'empty' house. Now the logical answer to this one seems simple, get a doorbell that would ring in the office too, problem solved? Sadly not. I've some chronic illness/mobility issues that mean even if I hear the bell it's going to take me a minute or two to get up to the house and I'd like to be able to see who is at the door (yay anxiety! -_-) and inform them to either leave parcels at the door or wait a minute and i'll be with them before they just give up and go pester my neighbours. So really 2 way audio is a must, and video is a preferred addition (if it would work on an Alexa or any tablet, major bonus). But there we enter the chaotic minefield of 'smart doorbell' technology whereby the reviews give me a headache in their variance between good and bad - Ring, Ring pro. Google Hello... I'm fairly tech savvy, I can work around most things, but knowing what to buy in a tech field I've never had any experience is a bit too much for me right now when reviewers have no unanimous response. So I welcome any feedback or suggestions on setups that might be good for a remote working situation. Anyone here had this dilemma and found a good setup?

What I had in mind was a doorbell at the main house which would either connect via WiFi to a tablet in the home office, or make a noise/ring that I can then log on to a connected app and initiate video/audio to inform the visitor I will be with them ASAP - whether this is possible.... I don't know. My hopes often exceed feasibility.

My major concerns would be: 1) Delay in connectivity - as reported by many reviewing ring doorbells that video/audio don't kick in until 40ish seconds, at which point the person is leaving. Obviously for some this is poor WiFi or router distance, but not always? 2) some systems needing a wired doorbell. Not the end of the world but a bit of a hassle. 3) Products needing multiple costly add ons or subscriptions which are just not worth the quality and functionality of the product. 4) Products claiming to have live alerts that someone has rung the bell or is approaching but this actually means if you have the app open at the time you'll be aware of it, not if you're currently doing something else.

Sorry for the lengthy and challenging WCIF/advice request - TIA to any brave Redditors who make it through and might be able to assist.

Did my broken iPhone cord fry my other devices?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 08:44 AM PST

Last week I plugged my iPhone 7 via my generic, white iPhone USB charging cord into my big power bank (Ruipu Q80), which was also charging my bluetooth earphones (Pulsar Premium) via a micro USB cord.

The iPhone USB charging cord began to heat up and give off that fried electronics smell so I unplugged everything. Obviously the iPhone cord is broken, but my charging block and earphones are also malfunctioning :(

The "79%" display was stuck on the charging block and it wouldn't charge anything or accept charge. Now, 3 days later, it can be charged and the display works again, but it cannot charge other devices.

The earphones continued to work, but then refused to accept charge even from a new micro USB cord.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is it possible my old iPhone cord fried/short-circuited my other devices?

    Questions about Microsoft's "PhotoDNA" Technology

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 10:01 AM PST

As far as I'm aware, Microsoft's PhotoDNA technology is used to detect CP images when they are shared on cloud sotrage networks, apps, or any website that uses its license. I've seen quite a few news reports of people getting busted for uploading these images on the Bing search engine.

But this is where I'm confused. First of all, Bing was found to have been surfacing these images earlier this year. So how can they catch people for accessing these images on their own network when they're displaying them? Is it turly b/c they actually uploaded these images onto the search engine? Bing has the ability to reverse photo search on its images platform.

However, a man in my province recently got sentenced for accessing these images on Bing. (https://battlefordsnow.com/2019/11/15/north-battleford-man-sentenced-to-six-months-for-accessing-child-pornography/) I'm sure he's not the only one who's ever done this, so why exactly did he get caught? And again, seeing as he was accessing these images and not sharing or uploading them...how was he caught? Does this mean anyone who accidentally sees these images on Bing, who is known to surface them sometimes, will possibly face persecution??
