There is a small area in my street where my bluetooth headset stutters every time I walk through it. What could cause this?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 03:54 AM PDT

Hey everyone, this has been bugging me for a while now, and I have tried looking for answers online, but can't find anything that answers my question.

Right outside the building I moved into a few months ago there is a small area where my bluetooth headset will stutter every single time I walk through it. At first I thought this might have been due to switches from my WiFi to 4G, or maybe it had something to do with the podcast buffering etc, but then I noticed it would also happen as I was listening to music instead of podcasts. I don't listen to music via Spotify, it is stored on my SD card, so it couldn't be due to network issues.

So I decided to test this out and I tried everything I could think of: 2 different bluetooth headsets (different make and brand) on two different phones (different phones, different OS), every single network configuration I could think of (wifi on/off, 4G on/off, ...). It happens on all of them. Whatever I'm listening to on via bluetooth will stutter when I'm walking through that little area on the corner of the street.

I was wondering if it could be interference of some kind, maybe some subterranean cables that are improperly shielded so their fields might interfere with the bluetooth signal...

Is there anyone on here that might know more about this and can shed some light on this little conundrum of mine?

Bluetooth has a mind of its own

    Posted: 31 May 2020 11:34 PM PDT

My Bluetooth speaker just randomly shot up in volume. We have the UE Boom 2 and it was connected to the iPad. Music was playing through the spotify app, and out of no where the volume just shot up to almost the max volume.... Where it was maybe just one or two notches (volume clicks) up before. What the hell could cause this?

Facts: I pay for the spotify apps without ads. No one else in the house tried to access the iPad via their own device. I quickly shut off the blue tooth when this happened. Checked the volume level on the iPad after and it was still at maximum. However, this has never happened just using the iPad. So I'm thinking it was the Bluetooth with a mind of its own.

But I would still love some help on figuring this out

    My HP 14-DK0014NS keeps crashing

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 01:36 AM PDT

I bought this laptop maybe 6 months ago through pccomponents. And recently it's been suffering blue screens, thermal shutdowns, thermal throttling, etc... It apparently seems like there are some cooling problems, (I don't block it's fans or anything, only flat surfaces). It also has sudden 100% CPU spikes. Any info is appreciated.

    Specs:

    AMD Ryzen 3 3200U Vega 3 graphics (2.6ghz-3.5ghz)

8GB of 2400mhz RAM (Single Channel)

    256GB M.2 SSD

I think it has only 1 fan

Using VPN during AI supervised examination

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 01:34 AM PDT

In Australia, due to corona and online education, they integrated AI called ProctorU to supervise and observe students during their exams while they're at home. Moreover it's tracking IP connection. My question is: if I'll use one computer to do exam with ProctorU on, and use another computer with VPN to check information during the exam, will the AI find out that another connection to IP address had changed its IP and browses websites and info that is related to exam questions?

    Thanks.

Can a tech savvy person still see and log everything I type on my brand new laptop from best buy without he physically getting his hands on it or doing anything to it by means of wifi or something similar?

    Posted: 31 May 2020 08:40 PM PDT

If I buy a new laptop from best-buy for myself and use it in my house, is there any way my abusive narcissist tech savvy dad will still be able to log everything or anything I type on that new laptop without him physically getting his hands on it? And why? By means of wifi or something similar? Maybe if I log into an email account that he knows the password to and put a key logger to be connected to that account? You dig? By means of spyware? I wan't to make sure because currently, there is no device in my house that I can type in complete 200% privacy without some device logging everything from afar so I wan't to make sure the laptop I'm getting will be able to be typed things where no one can see any of it or log any of it. Can I? And why?

    Stream from phone to TV

    Posted: 31 May 2020 08:21 PM PDT

Hey guys, I have unlimited data on my phone plan. I have a Samsung Galaxy s9. I also have a Roku TV. Wifi is out of the picture. I have been using my mobile hotspot, but my unlimited plan chokes out my speeds with the hotspot after a certain amount and I'm unable to watch everything I want to.

I have tried USB tethering to get internet that way, no luck. I have tried getting my USB to send video to the TV, but the TV won't recognize it.

If I were to get a USB-C to HDMI cable, is there a way for me to stream to my TV?

    Flash drives keep going bad

    Posted: 31 May 2020 08:09 PM PDT

    PLEASE HELP

Ok so I work with tech a lot and I'm completely puzzled.

So keep my computer form being crowded from files I use flash drives. I know not to pull one without properly ejecting it and all that... my laptop has now somehow made 2 different flash drives lose its recently saved data. All of the prior saved data is still accessible and not damaged. I would save some new artwork and double-check it saved and it would be just fine until you go back a day later and the files are just gone and get an error can't find. The base folder that is made the same time the other saves that dissipates (which is inside of that folder) is the only thing that is left. This folder thing is the case with both cases of flash drives and I'm so lost not sure what to do from here.

    #UPDATE#

so I did to testing on it and it won't erase anything in the root directory of the USB but if it's in a folders directory it's gone even if I save eject the USB you plug it back in and bam gone instantly

My old laptop had a menu button between alt and ctrl that would bring up a right click menu. is there a way to remap the useless prntscrn button that's now between alt and ctrl on my new one? there is no menu button on the new laptop.

    Posted: 31 May 2020 05:05 PM PDT

I don't think it's possible from what I've read, but I want to be sure

I was more or less had no say in the laptop I got for school (but through school was terribly overpriced for the specs and a so called "service package"(utter bs) , and I mean, I could complain about it to no end (my instinct is to shit all over it because of the specs for the money)

it's not irredeemably terrible, just a really bad match for me), but the thing that irks me is the keyboard layout, and the completely useless printscreen button. I only press it out of habitual longing for a menu key, and it feels bad

that turned into a little mini rant and for that i'm sorry.

Is there any alternative to multiplexing?

    Posted: 31 May 2020 04:57 PM PDT

Imagine a world where several multiplexing techniques do not exist.

How can the issue of shared link be solved?

You can tell me any idea to solve the issue and explain how it can be applied in a hypothetical situation. For example,

5 users have connections to a shared 10 Mbps link.

Suppose that the connections last for a specific duration of time.

Now, assume that user 1 requests 2 Mbps for his connection, user 2 requests 1 Mbps for his connection, user 3 requests 3 Mbps for his connection, user 4 requests 4 Mbps for her connection, and user 5 requests 10 Mbps for her connection.

total bandwidth requested by all users exceeds the available 10 Mbps bandwidth.

How can the bandwidth be shared without multiplexing?

Note: this is a homework question

    Note:

This question is specifically about alternatives to frequency based multiplexing (FDM) and time domain multiplexing (TDM).

I returned on my google form, how can I get my responses back?

    Posted: 31 May 2020 04:40 PM PDT

I clicked submit, but it said 'You can only submit this once' so without really thinking I returned, but that ended up refreshing the page and deleting all my responses under the google form. Is anybody familiar with this part of google? Is there any way I can get my responses back by inspecting the page?

This was for an evaluation for online school and is really important to me!

    Should I sell my iMac?

    Posted: 31 May 2020 04:38 PM PDT

I currently have a mid 2017 imac 27" (3.4ghz i5, 8gb RAM, Radeon Pro 570 4gb, 1tb Fusion Drive) which I primarly have for final cut, I love that software and I love that I have the license forever. I just brought a HP Omen Gaming Laptop (2.6ghz i7, 16gb RAM, GTX 1060ti, 128ssd & 1tbHDD). You cant use retina displays as a monitor. If I completely jump ship to the Omen then I would have to pay montly for premier as well as learning a new editing software. I only have enough space on my desk for either a monitor OR the imac. Should I sell the iMac and potentially look at getting a macbook pro. So I can have both operating systems running into a single display. It's hard for me decide because one was purchased for gaming and one for video editing but its hard having a 27" display that I cant use as a monitor for the Omen.

Recommendation for tablet needed (streaming services & digital drawing a must)

    Posted: 31 May 2020 02:19 PM PDT

Any recommendations on a touch screen tablet I can use all of my video streaming services from that also has digital drawing capabilities? Was looking at the Microsoft Surface Go 2 but wanted to see some other options.

I'm an artist and am tired of lugging my sketchbooks everywhere. Just looking for basic digital drawing/painting though and something for Netflix, hulu, etc.
