I tried opening gmail, steam, Facebook and reddit but all I can access is YouTube and Facebook. What might be the problem?

Google chrome says "this site can't be reached" ERR TIMED OUT

    Firefox is stuck loading.

When I use my phone I have no problems.

Any websites that let you host videos and stream them with other people at the same time?

    Posted: 01 May 2020 01:12 AM PDT

I am looking for something like a netflix party extension that allows you to watch the same video with other people and not have to manually sync up the video, but for movies other than those available on Netflix. There is a video streaming service called Hotstar in my country but it doesn't have a watch party extension. I tried uploading the movie to youtube/facebook, but there are copyright infringements. Any suggestions would be great and I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask this.

"Industry Standard" for video conferencing tools?

    Posted: 01 May 2020 12:55 AM PDT

    Hi all!

I work for an IT company in Japan and my boss tasked me with figuring out what the "American industry standard" video conferencing tool is. In particular, we're interested in finding out what major IT companies are using so that we can get our business partners on the same platform. If you work for a major IT company, could you let me know what tools you're using?

    Thank you :)

How can I get a theme on Chrome even though my administrator blocked it?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:41 PM PDT

I've been having to pull of some all nighters lately using the laptop I got from my school, it's ok but basically everything is blocked. I tried getting a dark theme but it says that it's blocked. Does anyone know how to I guess bypass this? I'm not really a tech person :/

Is there much of a difference between these 2000w 50-220V PWM heater/motor controller?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:12 PM PDT

I'm trying to figure out if there is any, or much, difference between these different devices. They all look pretty similar but you can see there are 2 red polyester cap's on them, and in one group, the cap looks like it's 1/3 - 1/2 the size. The reason I'm asking is because I need to buy a bunch of these for a variety of different applications, 5-6 for 1500-2000w heater control and to control some universal motors, so I don't want to buy a lower quality unit, if there is actually a difference.

This looks like the best priced and seems to have the same size capacitors (larger ones)

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/2000W-AC-50-220V-25A-Adjustable-Motor-Speed-Controller-Voltage-Regulator-PWM-qwe/254338525915

These seem to have a larger cap closest to the knob (all links look/are basically identical, different vendors and pricing)

    Image of larger size cap

These seem to have a smaller cap's closest to the knob (all links look/are basically identical, different vendors and pricing)

I guess my final question is if I connect 120v to this and it's rated at 25A then the max wattage I should get is 3000w! But it says it's limited to 2000. Is that b/c of the heat sink? Could I remove the mosfet (or whatever it is) and put it on a larger heat sink, maybe with a fan, I have LOADS of large heat sinks.

Finally, I'm thinking of running some heating coils (on a kiln) on a 240v outlet and I'm wondering if this will handle it. I've been told devices like this are +/- 10% for voltage, but IDK when it comes to Chinese stuff like this.

Thanks for any advice you can give on this!!

Webinar registration, payment, mailing and feedback - Free automation software required.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:41 PM PDT

Looking for a one stop solution with one Dash Board

    1) Creation of Delegate Registration Form which can be circulated to register (Delegate Means People who wants to register and attend the Webinar)

    2) Automatic Email to be sent out with Bank Details and link to update the Payment details upon registration through the Link as we do not have a payment gateway (Database to be created)

    3) After Manually Confirming the Receipt of the Payment by clicking yes against each registered delegate (This Manual confirmation will be done by as) but for this, we should have a provision of selecting yes in the Data Base in the Dash Board

    4) The Payment details to be merged automatically with the registered customer data (Mobile No. Or Email Can be a Matching Point)

    5) and an Automatic mail has to be sent to the Delegate on Confirmation of Receipt of Payment

    6) 1 or 2 remainder mails for the delegate to attend the Webinar on time

    7) Final Reminder in mail and in whatsApp with Login Details (This email has to go on a specific scheduled time)

    8) Zoom or Equivalent platform to conduct the Webinar which has all the control features like restrictions to login with I) User Id & Password, ii) Email I'd and Phone No. Matching with the Data Base, Mute All, Chat Box, Q & A Box, Recording, Etc.

    9) After the Webinar, a feedback form has to reach the delegate as per the Data base

    10) The filled feedback also has to merge with the already registered customer data (here's again, Mobile No. Or Email I'd Can be the Choice for data matching & merging)

Is there a way to make a custom notification when I get on a certain website for my Chromebook?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:56 PM PDT

I like to write. However, I lose track of what I post, so I keep a log to remind myself what I need to post next. Tragically I forget to keep track. So I'd like to create a notification when I get on the site to remind myself. Is there a way to do that, or should I just forget about it?

A social network with project management features at low per user cost -- an unattainable holy grail?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:51 AM PDT

I'm working with a new network of 200+ network of social entrepreneurs (NGOs, businesses with a social purpose), and they've been collaborating on a WhatsApp chat group. As you can imagine, this is getting unwieldy, so we're exploring alternative platforms.

What we need is: 1) social networking functions (profiles, sub-groups, chats, etc), and 2) project management features (task management, document storage). Also, we need very simply UI, so that those who are less tech-savvy can still get on.

We're exploring several options, but many are optimized for one piece vs. the other (e.g. Slack is great for chatting, Basecamp is great for project management). Some options, like Very Connect, cost more than we may be able to afford right now (a few thousand dollars for setup + a few hundred dollars monthly).

Is there a one-stop-shop that could meet all our use cases at low cost? Or am I being unrealistic?

    Thanks for weighing in!

PC software to text groups or individuals?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 02:44 PM PDT

Good Afternoon. In my department, all police officers are either EMTs or paramedics. When a call comes in and we need more help, we send out a text to specified groups. For instance, if we need a medic for a call, we can select the medics group, type out the request for help and send it out.
We also use the system to send out open shifts that pop up or detail requests. We can select all users or choose the ones we want. It sends the messages via the user's phone number and the email address associated for that carrier. For example, if I have T-mobile, the message would be sent to 5555555555@tmomail.com. This has worked well for several years but we've been having problems lately. One carrier won't even let the messages through and other, time sensitive messages, are sometimes taking far too long to arrive. It could be 20 minutes to an hour and by that time, it's too late. I'm wondering if there are any free or low cost (budget is tight) solutions that would accomplish the same thing in a more reliable fashion.

    How does this code work?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:56 PM PDT

Hi, does anyone know how this code works? It apparently takes willing given IPs from users using OpenVPN, groups them in the same network so they can play on a game that works by people being on the same network. Could someone explain how it works, I'm very technology illiterate and can't understand 90% of what's written here. This is an .apk file, written for Soul Knight, which is a mobile game developed in Unity, using c#

    tl;dr, how does this work?

Avaya One X Agent Desk Phone Configuration- If a call is placed using the landline desk phone and not through the Avaya soft phone application is the call recorded?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 03:45 PM PDT

To clarify, the Avaya One X agent is signed in and connected to the desk phone and in the available/ready status. The person would place a call manually with the desk phone not using the soft phone at all. Would the call made on desk phone be recorded? I am not asking about an Avaya IP phone. The soft phone is connected to a generic desk phone with a landline.

Anyone have a WestingHouse TV? I am wondering what these sets of buttons on the remote control do.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:22 AM PDT

    Hi,

I have a WestingHouse 55" flat screen TV (Model #WD55UB4530). It came with this remote control:

    https://i.imgur.com/6CuBxoj.jpg

Does anyone know what the multicolored or black sets of buttons do (where my thumb and finger are)?

I don't have the original manual, and the fact that they're not labeled make me wonder if they are programmable for other devices like a Blu Ray player (almost like a universal remote type of thing), but I really am not sure. Any thoughts?

    Thank you in advance!

When downloading more than one thing, what determines the bandwidth of each?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 02:39 PM PDT

Firstly, I have a fairly reasonable understanding of networking, and how the internet works (I think), so don't hold back! So, I'm downloading a TV series on my laptop, then I started an update of a game on my PS4 - naturally, I saw a decrease in the speed of the download on my laptop, but it only slowed slightly. I know that my total bandwidth is roughly 8MB/s, but my laptop download reduced from 8MB/s to roughly 6MB/s. Assuming that both sources can supply at least my maximum download speed, what determines how this is shared? Why, and what, decided that my laptop would take 6MB/s, and my PS4 would take 2MB/s? Is this my router deciding to share this out? If so, why does it not distribute 50/50?

Secondhand iMac 2019 or selfbuilt Pc for intense creative work, 4k price range ?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 01:45 PM PDT

Essentially the situation is the following, i am using a Macbook Pro from 2011 as my main "Workhorse", and it does a great job, when everything stays basic.

Like simple Photoshop Stuff, working with a few layers in Illustrator and playing with not all to ressource hungry stuff in ableton live and making music...

But when there is more to work with, it quickly gets to its boundaries.

I want to make heavy 3D Stuff, 4k Video Editing and really crazy ableton stuff, so there is no possible way around it, then making a heavy upgrade.

I am very comfortable with Mac OS, but could also imagine a Half Hackintosh / Half Windows machine, if anybody could recommend that, that might have tried it.

If this isnt the right place to ask, please be so free and suggest what "/r" i should consider with this question.

How much power is needed for Drop Ctrl keyboard (USB-C)

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:27 PM PDT

4 in 1 charger on Amazon. Will this power the keyboard while charging something else? I already own the charging cable and am aware it charges slower when multiple things are attached. I'm wondering if that power split will be enough to disrupt the keyboard's functionality.

How does Zoom work, on a technical level?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:19 AM PDT

The title is pretty self explanatory, I work in IT myself but I have not been able to find anywhere how on watch Zoom works on a technical level. Some of these meetings are 500+ people, so there's no way the host could just be running as a server for the 500+ peoples streams, then also uploading them to 499+ other peoples computers so.... yeah, just on a very micro level, how on earth do they manage that many streams?!

    Thank you!

School wants to download LockDown Browser on my personal computer to take online tests?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:55 AM PDT

In effort to combat cheating, I suppose, my school wants me to download a program called Lockdown Browser. I've never heard of it and I'm somewhat dubious but realistically I have to do this test and I dont really have a beater computer I can rely on to take an exam. My school is shut down atm, as is my local library, but I wanted to ask if theres anything I should worry about with downloading a program from them? (I'm naturally very paranoid so its hard for me to tell)
