Wireless cameras /baby monitor for hospital use

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 07:56 PM PDT

Does anyone know of a baby monitor system that uses battery for both the camera and the monitor?

Specifically that can use multiple cameras?

My wife is a nurse at a major Boston hospital, and they are trying to find something to monitor CoVid patients remotely.

    Quick Network switch question

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 02:55 AM PDT

I am expanding my home network and am trying a small 5 port tp link switch. When adding the switch network speeds went down from 233mbps to 92mbps. (speeds from both the source and switch)

Is this the limitation of the switch or more ports equal more divided bandwidth ?

    Ethernet to Switch?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 11:40 PM PDT

Hi so I purchased a TP-Link and have set it up. It is all connected and works well, however it seems the Switch is not recognising the ethernet cable. I have a USB to Lan adapter, but trying to connect via wired connection on Switch won't work, and the lights on the TP-Link show that the Ethernet port isn't connected. I'm using a Cosmol USB to Ethernet Network Adapter.

    Thanks

    data brokers selling strategy

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 09:47 AM PDT

Hi all, PhD student here doing research on data brokers with the aim of regulation policies (can give info in PM if interested). I am trying to focus on the different selling strategies of data brokers, and i found mentioned in some reports that data broker usually adopt a subscription fee or a pay-per-use tariff. I am trying to understand how much popular are these two options inside the market, but can't find nothing (only sample of reports that cost 4000$ or so). I don't need detailed info, just a relative order of dimension to understand what data brokers usually do. Any help is very much appreciated.

What is the closest thing to VMS?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 09:49 PM PDT

I'm thinking of selling my ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 to get a upgrade. What do I need to include when I sell it? And how much could I sell it for?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 09:23 PM PDT

I'm not a huge tech person. But I'm planning on selling this graphics card of mine. I have the disc it came with which is used to install drivers and what not. But this is quite scratched, I tried it and it still works. The Graphics Card is in good condition as well.

So am I missing something or is the Disc, instructions and graphics card all I need to include if I try to sell it?

And what price do you think I could get for it?

Is there an outdoor version of a Verizon cradlepoint?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 06:21 PM PDT

We are considering moving to a rural house that has almost no cellphone service, but has a 30 foot antenna tower. Could I mount some outdoor version of a Verizon cradlepoint to get LTE into the house? We think LTE would be possible from the top of the tower based on where we can get it. It has AC power available at the base of that tower and it is probably about 150 feet from the top of the tower to the inside of the house. Any thoughts appreciated on how to get high speed internet or full LTE coverage. DSL is available through Verizon home phone lines. And satellite internet may be possible but a lot of trees. The house currently gets Dish Network reception though.

How do I ensure that my computer is secure after a data breach?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 05:55 PM PDT

Yesterday, I went to a website (homemade knifemaker- not porn lol) that warned me before I went to it by saying "hackers may be trying to steal your information, etc". I didn't think anything of it but today I received an alert from my bank asking if I was trying to make a purchase for $1.91. I replied no and had the card shut off. My question is: is this computer no longer secure? what other information might they have taken? How can I make this computer secure to make purchases again? TIA for your help!

Can I make a Venn Diagram with 30 items between 7 circles?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 04:35 PM PDT

I'm trying to make a display for music theory that shows the chords in common between 7 scales. I'm afraid 30 different chords among 7 scales will be too much info to cram in. I want to throw in short titles into each circle. The possible trouble is, they have a lot in common in the mixing circles.

So is this possible, and if so, how do I make it? I have Microsoft exel and SPSS. I've figured out how to make a basic venn diagram on microsoft exel but it's small and it won't put titles into the circles. Is there a way around this, or is there another program for venn diagrams I could use?

    Thanks

What simple tech could auto manufacturers install in their cars now that would make them easier to understand by self-driving cars?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 07:50 AM PDT

If an auto manufacturer doesn't want to put in self-driving tech into their car, but does want their new cars to communicate information to self-driving cars more effectively, what should the new cars have as features?

Ideally something unnoticed by the humans.

So I have a roku tv and ever since I moved my tv to a different spot in my room a little blob of colours appeared in the top left corner. I thought nothing of it until two lines(blue and pink) started to extend from the blob. It stretches farther everyday and I don't know how to fix it.

video call device for elderly in retirement facility?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 03:06 PM PDT

curious if anyone's done this. Any device recommendations? I've got a grandma stuck in a retirement facility. She can't use technology, can barely work a cell phone, and has trouble reading (stroke).

Ideally, I'd like to buy a device (or pair of devices), get them all programmed and set up with favorites or hot buttons, strip it down to only the essential app on the screen and then mail it out to the facility and have a nurse connect it to the wifi.

Any recommendations? the echo show? the facebook portal thing?

Is there a way that I can look up what one of my old TV sizes was?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 10:36 AM PDT

I don't have a receipt or anything, it was actually my ex-boyfriends and he doesn't have a receipt either. It broke about 3 months ago so it's been thrown away. I asked him and he said it was a 62 inch, but I'm positive it wasn't. I want to know because I'm going to buy a new tv and want to buy the size of the old one. I have netflix, hulu, youtube, ps4 online and have been checking the history of past devices but they only list the ip address. Is there anywhere else that would list the device information?

    AC to DC power inverter

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 09:28 AM PDT

I am looking for an AC to DC inverter to use in place of my car battery. But can't seem to find anything but the opposite, DC to AC. I'm looking for something a showroom would use to keep the car powered, without using/draining a battery. My use case would be to run the car's accessories without running the engine.

    9" 4:3 screen and controller?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 06:54 AM PDT

(Not sure if this is the right subreddit but we'll see)

    Hi all,

Im building a computer in a custom shell. Said custom shell is a 1986(ish) Macintosh SE. Before anyone gets upset at me for emptying it out, it was already not functioning and a parts computer. As I said, I've emptied it out and I am now in the process of getting the actual computer parts.

The shell has a 9" space in the front at a 4:3 ratio. I pulled out the CRT and I am looking to put in a different screen.

I found that the closest tablet screen I could use was the Google Nexus 9, as it is 8.9" 4:3 which is close enough for me. However, I haven't been able to find a controller unit for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks and stay safe!

I have a coax router but Ethernet service.

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 05:49 AM PDT

I just moved into a new house. Instead of coax internet, they have Ethernet plugs. Is there an adapter I can get to make the Ethernet feed my router?
