Is there any cheap Tablet [in India] worth buying for Student purpose? Posted: 28 Nov 2020 01:23 AM PST I currently use a quite old Laptop, which has seen its good days (Sony VAIO). I use PDFs (a stylus friendly device would be appreciated for this purpose) and watch YT/web videos extensively almost throughout the day. I can spend about ₹10-15k (150-200$)and the product should atleast fulfil the above needs smoothly.I know there are a lot of android tablets in this range but I haven't heard good reviews of them generally and are they worth buying, if not then what would be something that would, if yes then which ones are the best? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:40 PM PST Are RFID blockers useful or not? Recently had an incident with a family member where someone got their credit card number and expiry date (but not the security number on the back) to make some purchases. The thing is, they rarely use that card, never at a gas station or grocery store or anything. So it stays in their wallet 99.9% of the time. So the only explanation is that someone at some store or somewhere must have used some scanner to get a hold of their card. Unless someone can think of some other way someone might have gotten a hold of the card (based on the transactions made, it seems like all were local purchases, so it's not like someone online from some other country got it), the best think I can suggest to them is either those RFID blocking cards you can get on Amazon for around $10, or those RFID wallets for similar price. However, I've also read that RFID items like those aren't too great, so I'm not sure what to do here. [link] [comments] |

Need a simple speaker that plays from SD card. Posted: 27 Nov 2020 02:33 PM PST We are trying to set up a series of simple kiosks that will each play a single audio file from an SD card (or a MicroUSB, or a USB drive). The play button needs to be prominent and easy to use because these will be used for a lot of older people who are not good with technology. They will be powered from the wall, but ideally could also use a battery backup. Simplicity is key, and everything I've been able to find has been a bluetooth speaker that is kind of overpowered for our application. The biggest requirement is that it's easy to use - it only has to play one single audio file whenever the play button is pressed [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Nov 2020 08:21 PM PST Hey all, I was wondering, is there any way to make it so any active apps move to the left of the taskbar? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
How can we measure the amounts of computing power various tasks consume? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 11:52 PM PST It's easy to think about bandwidth. Files have a certain size, connections have a certain speed, and comparisons can be made objectively. It's easy to understand, at least in theory, how an image encoding results in a certain file size, for example. But what about computing power? I get the impression that information about this sort of thing is much harder to come by, and is more complicated. How can we measure the amounts of computing power various tasks consume? It seems like some programs and operating systems are so complex as to be somewhat opaque to understanding. As an example, a YouTube video has a certain file size, but presumably it takes a different amount of computing power to play it on my laptop as opposed to my iPod. [link] [comments] |
Bypassing Admin Restrictions On Work Computer Posted: 27 Nov 2020 11:04 PM PST Okay, so honestly I am just trying to play Among Us on my work computer, but I cannot download Steam or anything else without having the administration username and password. If anyone knows a way I can get around this, WITHOUT doing something that would cause me to lose my job, I would appreciate the knowledge. I also would like to avoid having to buy any personal attachments like flash or hard drives as I don't have a lot of extra budget room. It's also a Windows 10, if that matters. [link] [comments] |
Help finding extensions to curb Twitter harassment? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 09:59 PM PST Hey all, So Twitter is absolutely ruthless sometimes with harassment and rationing of ppl for rly harmless opinions, and while I've been decent at curbing it for the most part, I was wondering if there's any good Chrome extensions/websites/web apps that ideally are good at mass-blocking, but can also just prevent harassment in general. I currently use secateur.app, occasionally the Twitter Block Chain Chrome extsnsions, and just got the hang of Mirror Block, but all these programs have their own limitations, so something to supplement them would be nice! I'm also not very good at coding, so trying to use any kind of script would probably end disastrously lol. if y'all have suggestions, even smth obscure, would certainly appreciate it! also if u know anywhere else I could ask please let me know [link] [comments] |
My headphones randomly stop working Posted: 27 Nov 2020 05:43 PM PST I am on Windows, and sometimes, in seemingly random intervals, my audio will cut out. Unplugging them and plugging them back in usually fixes the issue, but different programs react differently and sometimes require to be shut down before unplugging the headphones, and then being restarted. Is there any explanation for this? [link] [comments] |

Will a 1080p QHD monitor look bad for watching YouTube videos? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 02:52 PM PST I heard someone reviewing on talking about how it looked grainy. I am just wondering if it will look worse than my phone because of how it is 5-6x worse PPI. [link] [comments] |

Can a SIM card mess up an iPhone? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:46 PM PST I had my iphone 7 plus without a sim card for a few months because I had not left the house and I got another phone for work. So I used this iPhone with wifi for messages and games Last week I decided that now is a good time to reactivate my phone's data plan so I went to AT&T and got a new SIM card, as soon as I turned it on, things started failing: microphone and speaker wouldn't work on calls, camera would freeze when I open instagram, audio messages would only play at max volume Its so weird! Should I restore my phone's settings? [link] [comments] |
Phone notifications getting late for specific person. Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:28 PM PST Hello First I would like to introduce my self My name is Luka I am 23 , and I have also studied about technology like networking programming and database stuff. I am not sure I am in the right site but worth a shot. So here is my problem : I owned ROG 2 phone and sometimes I was not getting notifications like messengers calls or messages. So I thought there is problem with my router thats like right next to me and on speed test I am getting 16 Ping / 89 Mbps dl and 30 Mbps up did some checks on router settings like firewall or ports to open but it didn't help. The messages and calls were still late like 10-20 minutes. So I sold this phone and got the Galaxy S20 because I wanted new and to check if problem would still be there. I was getting all nortifications like calls and messages from everyone but except my girlfriend . She is using Iphone and in most cases her messages and calls are not arriving in time it delays 10-20 minutes just shows missed all. Yesterday I was next to my phone and she called twice and sent like 6 messages and then she called from Whatsapp and I didnt get any of them. I got them after like 20 minutes all at the same time my phone was just vibrating and getting all messages and calls from her that I missed. I need a wizard that can help me with this because she is blaming me and its pissing me off.. Thank you Kind Regards [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Nov 2020 11:21 AM PST I'm shopping for a new motherboard and the A520 AORUS ELITE caught my eye for its low price, but I just discovered that it's not meant for overclocking. There was a video by a youtuber who overclocked it, but my question is. Can I still use the Turbo feature on the Ryzen 3600 if the A520 won't allow for overclocking? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
New 4k TV or get Xbox Series X? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 10:39 AM PST A few years ago I bought the Xbox One S. I've read up about it and it seems to be capable of 4k, but my tv isn't good enough to support it. Instead of the Xbox Series X, I have recently been planning to get a new 4k UHD tv to make the most of what I've got, but I've seen some articles saying you should get it anyways. Can anyone give me advice on which to buy? Please and thanks. (Price of the 40" 4k tv i was looking at was around £250, compared to the £450 price tag of Xbox Series X) [link] [comments] |
Screen problem after changing to a SolidStateDrive Posted: 27 Nov 2020 05:19 AM PST So just got a Samsung 860 Evo Series 1TB solid state drive, installed everything properly and it worked perfectly fine for the first bootup... but after powering it off and turning it back on its having a problem, the screen is black. I can pull up the bios screen and I've made sure the SSD and Windows10 are selected to run but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help? [link] [comments] |

Need an outdoor thermometer that I can read from my phone, from anywhere. Posted: 27 Nov 2020 07:41 AM PST So, I just had a heat pump installed and they recommend not running it when it's below 30 degrees. I'd like to look at the current temp outside and be able to turn on/off my Nest attached to the heat pump. I was looking at Google's own nest thermometers but they seem like they are for indoor use. What are the possible uses of an old e-reader, other than loading books? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:48 AM PST After some years of enthusiasm, I switched back to physical books some years ago. I would like to find some possible use of my e-reader (a model by Sony bought in 2012) beyond loading books that are only in digital format. [link] [comments] |
