Network Switch Providing Slow Speeds Posted: 27 Oct 2020 09:53 PM PDT I have a cheap $20 Monoprice network switch with 8 ports (7 out, 1 in) that is directly connected to my AT&T router/modem. It's a 100' run with Cat 6 from upstairs to the basement. I have all 8 ports being used (TV, PS4, AVR, streaming services, etc.). Most of the time there is no issues with speeds except when I am playing PS4. I get less than 50 mbps which isn't cutting it. However, when I hook directly to the Cat 6 from upstairs and bypass the switch I get 400mbps. How can I still use my current, or a new, switch (recommendations would be accepted) to improve the speed? It seems the bandwidth is getting spread too thin between all 7 output channels maybe? Posted: 28 Oct 2020 03:26 AM PDT So one of my old friends moved away today and I would like to recover our snapchat and instagram conversations but all I can see are saved messages on snapchat. I would like to have the conversations from start to finish (or at least as much as possible) to be readable for snaochat and instagram. Is there a way to do this for either of them [link] [comments] |

Should I get a TV or monitor with built-in speakers and HDMI? Posted: 27 Oct 2020 11:14 AM PDT I always liked using TVs as computer monitors bc I never had to buy external speakers (External speakers also annoying, had one that came w 2 separate ones and had no idea where or how to place them for best quality). I have an old Orion TV, 1080p 60fps, the only problem is that it has unfixable overscan so I'm finally going to upgrade I have a PC with a Radeon RX 460 (mostly used for video content or games that aren't too graphics-intensive like skyrim/garry's mod) and a Nintendo Switch which I need to use with either a TV or monitor, I also often put on a movie from my PC and then get in bed bc I can just rotate my TV. but I have a few questions Should I get a small TV that can function as a monitor or just a monitor w built in sound for my use cases? I heard most modern TVs are garbage smart TV's that will force advertisements on you whenever you switch HDMI etc even after paying like 2500$ Also should I get 4K, 1080P, or 2K, I googled and apparently radeon rx 460 can handle 4K video quite fine and for games I could just render it as 1080p if I had to. And do you have any TV/monitor recommendations? I don't need the best top-tier screen that can go on a wall, just one that's good for a small room on my glass computer desk. Another good thing about smart TVs though is it'd be easy to connect to shit like Netflix and Crunchyroll and control it remotely... I currently use an android app to control my PC remotely anyways (Unified Remote) so probably wouldn't miss it too much, the forced advertisements for a piece of hardware I buy is pretty shitty though, but yeah I'm indecisive so if someone could help me out w what they'd do in my situation [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Oct 2020 09:54 AM PDT So I got my old snapchat account back and I have a friend that moved away a long time ago that I lost touch with and I wamt to read our old conversations but only parts of them are saved. There HAS to be a way to find the messages that have disappeared due to not being saved. How can I find these messages so I can read our full conversations? [link] [comments] |

Sharing TV and computer through one monitor with two HDMI inputs (sound issues)? Posted: 27 Oct 2020 08:22 AM PDT I have had to downsize my office space and no longer really have room for a TV that can be positioned in a way that I could actually see it from my desk. I currently run dual monitors off of my home PC. I am also not yet able to sell my wife on the idea of switching to a streaming TV servide (Youtube TV, etc.) so, for the next year or so anyway, we will continue to have Fios for TV and its separate box (their watch online portal sucks so I only use it when I need to). I just purchased a new 27" monitor (LG 27QN600-B) that has dual HDMI inputs. My thought was to connect both my PC (as the secondary monitor) and the Fios box into this monitor via HDMI and use the input switch on the monitor to swap between TV and a second computer monitor as needed. The only issue is that the monitor does not have speakers so I would need to connect some speakers to the monitor directly. However, I also would not want PC sound to come out of these speakers, only TV sound. Am I safe in assuming that this would work since the PC itself has speakers connected to it directly and sound output is set to go to those instead of through the HDMI out? [link] [comments] |
Is my solar-powered powerbank faulty? Posted: 27 Oct 2020 07:45 AM PDT I charged it fully but if I plug in a USB fan it powers off after 2 minutes. [link] [comments] |
Installing router capability into new office Posted: 27 Oct 2020 06:09 AM PDT Hello, Recently moved into new house and the room we want to use as our office doesn't have the coax cable outlet needed for the router. I need the router in this room to run an Ethernet cable from it to my computer. Any suggestions on what I need to do this? I have no base knowledge on what is needed for the router to work and what it needs to connect to. I know I find the right outlet, plug it in and it works. Thank you [link] [comments] |
