COULD A TECH SAVY PERSON PLEASE HELP? -- Need to input timecode into Excel for Macbook Posted: 23 Oct 2020 11:43 PM PDT Hello, I am keeping notes for a film on Excel with my Macbook, and I would like to be able to add the timecode (hh:mm:ss:) to Excel with a hotkey. I would love to be able to manually sync my Macbook's clock to the Sound Mixer's timecode, and then be able to press a shortcut to input this time into Excel, but I haven't been able to find a way to do it. I formatted my Excel cell's to hh:mm:ss, but when I used Mac's time-of-day shortcut (command + ; ), the hours + minutes showed up correctly, but seconds is always "00". I tried creating an automator, but I honestly don't know what I'm doing. I've seen Macros be talked about to help fix this in Excel. That seems beyond me :(. Is there someone out there who is tech savy and understands what my dilemma is and a possible solution? Any help is appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Superior quality "pro" equipment Posted: 23 Oct 2020 11:17 PM PDT I'm not here to rant about high priced professional-grade equipment. What I don't understand is that people use [at minimum] $30,000 monitors, $50,000 cameras etc? When a majority of "viewers" either watch it over a 20 Mbit stream over Netflix or H.264 (mostly - still H.264 and not H.265) pirated content. Why master a song with [at minimum] $1000 headphones when the end-user will be listening it as a compressed stream from either Spotify/Apple Music or heaven forbid on YouTube? Why record your channel's videos at 4K/8K when YouTube's compression usually gets rid of the details - but keeping enough to let the viewer notice the upgrade in video quality? This last argument is kind of pointless, but I hope you get my point. I'm not against quality content. But even the devices needed to really enjoy this great content is out of a typical consumer's financial reach [excluding enthusiasts]. [link] [comments] |

What do I need to save videos from my phone? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 12:11 PM PDT I have been recording a lot of videos from my phone lately due to a new addition to the family and they don't convert very well to e-mail or for sending to other phones because of their file size; what device would I need to safely store them for future use so I don't run out of room on my cell phone itself? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 07:22 PM PDT I'm on a budget of around 700 dollars and I want to know if I should get a 9100f or a 3100. I'm going to pair them both with a 1650 super and I want to know which will be better performance wise. The most I would do on the cpu is running GTA V on one monitor and running YouTube on another monitor [link] [comments] |
My Apple Music suddenly went haywire and I can’t access about 15K songs I own Posted: 23 Oct 2020 04:25 PM PDT I use an iPhone and a 2017 MBP for my music needs. Everything was fine until now when I suddenly can't find any of my music on my MBP. It says the original file can't be found. When I try holding down option to rebuild the library, it says it can't change the library bec the current library is in use by a device. There's nothing connected to the MBP. I tried signing in and out of the Music store. I unsynced my phone. But still can't access my music. What do I do next? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:34 PM PDT Alright, someone please dumb down wifi boosters for me! I live on the third floor of a house and the wifi router is on the main floor. I think we have Bell fibre internet. IDK what the guaranteed speeds are or whatever... My landlord pays for the internet and it's included in my rent. The signal is relatively weak in my apt, cuts in and out, and just isn't good enough for video calls. I'd like to get a wifi booster that I don't need to have my landlord help set up or have his permission or whatever. I could plug something into the router if need be and just tell him after, though less preferable. Unfortunately, there's nowhere between the router and my apt where I could plug in a booster except inside my landlord's apartment on the second floor... Is there even a point in having a booster inside my apartment? Or would it be no more capable of picking up a signal than my macbook? The ones that you plug in and set up (hopefully, again, without needing access to the router admin account or whatever), can they be set up and then moved to a different plug? (It's 2020, I assume they can but y'know). I suppose I could set it up and then ask him to plug it in in his apartment... but again, rather not. In case it matters at all, I did a wifi speed test and got: Alright, thanks for any and all dumbing down help :) [link] [comments] |
Should I uninstall cpu drivers? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:03 PM PDT I'm switching from intel to AMD, and I've heard that you should uninstall the old drivers if you're switching brands, but what will happen if I uninstall the cpu drivers? Should I even? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Oct 2020 05:12 PM PDT I live in Canada and for several months, I've been receiving emails about online purchases from a company in the Philippines called Lazada as well as emails about deliveries of those purchases from the courier company Lazada uses called Ninja Van. They seem to be legitimate companies and my email address doesn't seem to be compromised. I tried to contact the company to figure out the problem and got nowhere so I entered my email address on Lazada's login page and clicked on forgot my password and it said my email address wasn't valid. So, what do I do now? Should I just block their emails or is this some type of scam I'm unaware of? [link] [comments] |
Emailing multiple accounts question Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:27 AM PDT I'm going to try and phrase this in a way that makes sense. A previous employer that I worked with was able to creat an account called something like "employes@company.com" when an email was sent to that specific email from an outside source, it automically sent the email to a group of employees who needed to see that email, instead of the outside source cc-ing them individually. This would be very useful at my current company but I can't figure out how to recreate that scenario. If it makes a difference our current domain is gmail based. Thanks for the help, hope what I am trying to accomplish makes sense. [link] [comments] |
AMD Ryzen processors with Vega 3 + 4k external monitor Posted: 23 Oct 2020 10:45 AM PDT I am wondering if I can plug a HDMI/DP cable between: - laptop powered by AMD Ryzen™ 3 3250U and 3200U (with Vega 3 graphic built-in) and get things work. Just web browsing / documents. No gaming, heavy graphic. I searched through the internet a lot for max resolution, 4k support etc, but did not found a certain information. However I want to be sure before I buy a laptop. [link] [comments] |
Xiami M10 Ultra or ROG phone III Posted: 23 Oct 2020 12:40 PM PDT I've been wanting a well specd' phone for a while now with a great camera, good software, good chips etc etc. These two stood out to me when I was doing my research. They both score highly on the benchmark and so they looked perfect to me. However, I want a great overall package and both of these seem to have that. I really do like that camera lol. Note: this post follows the community rules as I am not asking about a laptop, any attempts to remove this post will be countered. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
HARDWARE: RAM Upgrading advice? I have 2 slots one with 8GB currently. max capacity is 32GB Posted: 23 Oct 2020 07:30 AM PDT I want to upgrade my RAM. Should I get a 16GB for the second slot or an 8GB? I work with 3D simulations and need a lot of RAM. I've heard about this ram slot ratio thing that if you have an 8GB the upgrade should be an 8 GB only? Money is kind of an issue so can't get two 16 GB for both slots. What would be a good choice? Need help getting a dual monitor stand. Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:58 AM PDT I just recently got a new pc, keyboard, headset and monitors this year. I am looking to get a dual monitor stand that is not crappy and will fall apart like my $50 headset. Can anyone tell me about a decent stand and a non crap headset that can last more than 9 months? The stand would be a grommet into a desk of about 1.5", it does not matter if it is a pole with arms or just the kind with 2 arms. The headset would be an over-ear headset, it does not matter if they are wired or Bluetooth. It does not matter if they have noise cancellation or not, same thing goes to if the mic is built in or not. [link] [comments] |
Selling my old Macbook Pro for parts: If I remove the HDD can a buyer still access my info? Posted: 23 Oct 2020 06:56 AM PDT I dropped my computer a few months ago, which from what the computer repair techs told me was making my hard drive continuously crash my computer. I bought a new computer and decided to sell my old computer for parts on eBay. I removed the HDD, but I want to make sure there is no way whoever I sell the computer to can access my info, or anything that was on the computer before. Did removing the HDD put me in the clear? Need suggestion on what PSU to get Posted: 23 Oct 2020 10:34 AM PDT -Specs- i7 970, rx 580 4gb, 16gb ddr3, 1tb ssd, no case fans, no external drives
Currently using Thermaltake Litepower 550w Want to change it since it is a bit old and it only has one 6+2 pin for gpu and I want two 6+2 / 8 pin for my rx580 which I already run with only 6+2 because it is Sapphire Nitro+ but I need both for OC. These four are in my budget range, can't buy any other ones, since shipping here to eastern eu takes time and money so please don't recommend anything else, thanks. Also the quieter the better
