Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:02 AM PDT My laptop clicks on its own at times, sometimes hovering over an icon then clicking on it won't work, sometimes it right clicks on its own. My mouse is working completely fine when I try it on my sister's laptop. I've tried uninstalling my drivers, updating my drivers, resetting my laptop, downgrade it to windows 8, and get it back to windows 10. And none of them worked. I need my laptop for online class, I've tried everything google has to offer. I want to fix my laptop and be able to use it like before again. Any form of help would be very much appreciated. Didn’t get a password reset link from Nord vpn Posted: 02 Sep 2020 09:35 PM PDT So I just bought and installed nordvpn and then I opened the app and it requires me to log in. So I know my email but forgot my password. I clicked forgot password and didn't it said "A message has been sent to [my email] with a link to reset your password." I check that email multiple times over the past hour and I've gotten nothing. Why is this and what do I do? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:44 PM PDT Okay, so, my new gaming laptop arrives in something like 5 hours. I need to transfer like 65-ish gigs of stuff over to it from this old hunk of junk. I copied them to a 'transfer folder', which basically is just all of my files in one place so I can copy-paste that over to a flash drive to put on my new laptop. I wanted to check to make sure I had everything, so I looked at the properties of each file I copied. It says they all have the same size, but that some of them have lower size-on-disks of as much as 26,000 bytes. I don't want any technical jargon, I just want to know if I've lost any actual stuff out of this or if it's just due to being in a different location on my pc, and if this will cause issues with moving things over to the new one. I've seen stuff talking about clusters and such, and despite being the most technologically proficient member of my family, I still don't have a bloody clue what half of that means. So please spare me that torture. Any help would be appreciated, especially if it happens before my new setup gets here - I'll be having to wait a few hours after my laptop arrives for Amazon to deliver some accessories for it, so it could still be another 12 hours. Kind regards, Ash. EDIT: Basically, I'm trying to say this: are my files still the exact same, or close enough that I shouldn't worry, as the originals? The 26,000 bytes thing has me worried, but according to the same properties popup that tells me the disk size is different, the actual size is the same for both the copied folders and the original, and there's the same number of files in each. Posted: 03 Sep 2020 02:24 AM PDT Today I bought the Corsair -hydro series 120 mm radiator cpu cooler (the single fan) from Best Buy .. tried to install it in my z490asrock motherboard on my intel 10700 The intel bracket in the package is not fitting though, I put it on the back of the board , seems flush/flat- and when I screw the front screws until all the way tight the bracket still isn't tight. Hangs noticeably loose by millimeters... is it not compatible? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:24 PM PDT This may be a very dumb question, to say the least. I have rigged up a box to light up with LEDs and a spooky noise upon opening, and now, I am wondering if there is a way to add fog to the mix. Dry ice is not an option as the box may not be opened at a set time, and may have to be left alone for a while. Having one constantly running doesn't seem like a good idea either, as items in the box may be damaged by potential condensation. Ideally, the fog would come out as soon as the box was opened, but I know most fog machines have a warmup time of a few minutes. Is there any way to make this happen or should I just stick with the lights and spooky sounds? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Sep 2020 01:54 AM PDT HELP! I just recently moved to the Netherlands for my studies. I bought two 10€ paysafes near my residence, and when I went to cash them in it wouldn't let me, as my account was registered to Portugal. Is there any way I can fix this? I can't create a Dutch account because I kept my Portuguese phone number. Could really use some help, their customer service is not helpful. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 07:01 PM PDT My headset is quiet even at max level. Yes, I know what you all will say about going to to the Sound Control panel and turning it up and updating your drivers and stuff. I tried all that. Also, I built my own PC so maybe the headphone jack is not connected properly or something? And if so will a headphone jack to use adapter fix the issue. My USBs work no problem. [link] [comments] |

Purpose of short USB Type-C male to a USB Type-C Female connectors Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:27 PM PDT I was wondering what's the purpose of a USB Type-C male to a USB Type-C Female connector would be. Most of the sold ones are short and you can directly connect the equipment to your phone in any case. Is there a reason why you would need one? I am asking because I bought a Samsung T7 SSD and want to get it working with my OnePlus 5 phone. It connects but does not work, probably because of phone not providing enough power. I know it's stupid, but will it work if I buy the official OnePlus 5 C to C connector? They do claim that it can be used for "OTG" purposes, but that might be for traditional type-A pen-drives only. I will appreciate any way to get my external SSD working with my phone. It makes some things really convenient. T7's requirement does say it works with Android L and above, which I have on my OP5. Best practices for new email after 15 years? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:22 AM PDT So....my mom has been using the same email ever since she signed up for AOL 2.0 in the 90s. I looked it up on HaveIbeenPwned and there's at least 20 breaches associated with it. this is tied to her bank accounts, social media profiles, everything she's ever needed an email address for. and i'm 98% sure the password has been changed once, maybe twice. my question is, are there any tips to share on how to easily move to a new email address, ie. making sure we update every bank account, social media acct. etc.? i realize accounts will just sign out when the email is no longer valid but hoping for something easier on my mom than having her re enter her new info 100x a day. thanks in advance for helping with this simple ass question! haha. From a technological/business/legal standpoint, how are SoundHound & Shazam allowed to search songs? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 05:10 PM PDT I'm a SoundHound user and I was just thinking about the app itself. There are presumably millions of songs it theoretically has to search against when doing queries. From a legal standpoint, how are they allowed to do this? I assume they can't download/have licensing rights to all of the songs, so I'm curious how they did this in the first place. Would they have to contact each record label then hope they allow them to work with them? Really curious about this, especially as they were just starting out as a company. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 01:43 PM PDT Nearly 10-15 years ago there was a study, that says the laser printers emmits harmful microdust etc... From that I found no further information. What do you think about it? [link] [comments] |
How do you view files as a series of digits (maybe 1s and 0s)? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 11:28 AM PDT I know this sounds a bit confusing, but I didn't want to make the title too long. The main thing I am asking is how do you view certain file formats as a string of characters that shows the metadata and the actual data stored in the file. For example, I know that .bmp files are a string of digits that begin with the Metadata specifying image height, width, color depth, and many other things. Then, after the Metadata is the actual file in a series of sets of 3 numbers (one for each of the RGB colors) for each pixel. A similar thing for .wav files, where after the Metadata part of the string, there's a series of numbers determining the sound pressures in order. So, I wanted to know if there is a certain way to view this string of characters and even edit it (I don't want to say digits because there could be letters as well). This is mostly out of curiosity and interest in CS, but also because I have gotten a bit into editing cursors (.cur and .ani files) and would like to edit them myself rather than going to some fishy website and downloading stuff (even if it means I have to manually convert .png to the string mentioned before, and then put that into the .cur file). Thanks a lot, hope y'all have a great day! [link] [comments] |

[Samsung Galaxy] Black screen after a few seconds Posted: 02 Sep 2020 04:58 PM PDT Hello, every time I switch on my mum's Samsung Galaxy S4, it vibrates, shows the start (with the phone's name) and the mobile phone provider. But after those maybe 7 seconds, the screen turns black and nothing changes. The blue LED-light keeps turned on, though. Is there a way to deal with it? Since the screen works for a few seconds, it shouldn't be the screen and I've tries a different battery and ordered a new (third) battery, all of them didn't work/change the black screen. Is there a) a way to get the data from the phone or maybe b) fix the black screen? We have already bought a new phone for her but all pictures and numbers are still on there. So any way to get them would be great. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
