[SERIOUS] Friend found random web searches in his phone Posted: 20 Jun 2020 10:32 PM PDT Hello, I am at a loss as to where to ask this question, so I am going to simply ask here. He went back in and noticed that they were gone. He is using an iPhone and the search history he was looking in was in his Safari. I am not sure if he has the "Voice Google Search" thing activated, which I was possibly trying to propose, but it has made him clearly upset I don't want to bother him. What could this be? an account compromise, some supernatural mumbo-jumbo, a prank? Datamining? SOMETHING? Or maybe is he just a bit delusional and tired? He has not noticed any other random search results. Any info would be appreciated! Just a concerned friend. Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Looking for any advice on app developing/ data collecting Posted: 21 Jun 2020 03:50 AM PDT Hi everyone, my name is Giorgia. I am a graphic design graduate doing thorough research on a potential app concept for city dwellers. . . Currently on a fast track program for start ups, which requires me to reach out to as many people as possible. Would anyone be available for a quick 20 min interview about app developing, data collecting, any general advice on building an app. Please message me in private. The interviews can be an audio or video call (recorded). If anyone is interested it would really help with my research. I appreciate any any advice, knowledge and ideas. [link] [comments] |

[*Questions forTech/ Privacy Experts]What should USA citizens know about the lack of privacy they have against the government on their iPhones? What technology is being utilized by law enforcement to crack codes & extract iPhone data? Hey everyone, I'm a Civil Rights, Right to Privacy advocate & Student. I am writing a paper about what people need to know about their iPhone privacy based off my own personal story of when my business & personal phone was unjustly confinscated. I have some questions, I want to know what you know that I do not. Explain to me like I know nothing at all if possible as I want to also use this as a thread to educate others. •What resources will law enforcement utilize in order to gain access to an Iphone in order to extract the data stored inside? (E.i. call in an a specialist, Call phone carrier, Send the phone to FBI, forward texts, Call Apple, use data extraction technology/ data recovery software?) •What data recovery software technology is being utilized by law enforcement entities in 2020 to collect evidence & recover data from confiscated iPhones? •Why should encryption & privacy technology be used by citizens if the government can just obtain a warrant for the device in order to extract data inside which can be used against citizens? •What data do they ACTUALLY have access to? What can they not get into? •What iPhone data is reliability encrypted & cannot be accessed despite attempts? Is there any reliable part of Iphone encryption? •Do iPhone apps like Wickr or Signal add any extra layer of protection for Iphone users? •What privacy subscriptions tools are reliable & effective against law enforcement's attempts to extract data? •How can Americans modify settings to protect themselves against unlawful data extraction? •If you were El Chapo or Pablo Escobar how would your personal/day to day phone be set-up to protect against the government "just in case"? (Encryption Apps, VPN, Passeord settings, privacy subscriptions etc.) •What is something about the government & our privacy in America that you know, is not well know but you want everyone to know? **Thank you all in advance! I can't wait to hear your answers!*** [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Jun 2020 04:29 PM PDT Well guys, Can anyone explain what happens when I give my consent to websites to use my data for various reasons? I live in the UK for clarity, we are given the option to allow the site to use and share our data and I want to know what way it works. I know a lot of it is to do with advertising. My main interest is what the process is. For instance, once I "accept", is a number of 3rd party vendors made aware that I might be interested in their product. Is there an actual human that deals with these "leads" or is it some AI bot that fires related items/topics my way? I accept without thinking most of the time until about 10 mins ago, what actually happens? Cheers [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jun 2020 10:00 PM PDT Trying to find a way to come up with a photoelectric switch that activates when an led bulb flashes from a distance of roughly 15ft. Needs to be inconspicuous and also aim able bc the light will be in different locations. Anyone know of any photoeyes that could make this feasible. [link] [comments] |
Can you have higher resolution on a nintendo switch screen? Posted: 20 Jun 2020 09:15 PM PDT Is it possible to replace a regular switch screen with a screen with more pixel density? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jun 2020 09:22 AM PDT I recently watched this YouTube video (link: https://youtu.be/iXKvwPjCGnY) that talks about colour spaces. Interested I looked it up. Turns out different colour spaces can represent different "subsets" of the visible spectrum. Not all of these subsets are the same size. What I don't understand is how this is achieved. As long as the same number of bytes are used to represent each pixel there are only so many permutations regardless of encoding. Therefore a fixed number of distinct colors. Now I do not understand color spaces. Maybe they do use different numbers of bytes. I tried looking it up but most articles were too obscure and jargony especially Wikipedia. Maybe someone can help me out here? [link] [comments] |
Can't find NAS on another SSID Posted: 20 Jun 2020 07:18 PM PDT Hi folks, I got an NAS last week. I know that it's obviously better to connect it to ethernet. However I find it quite noisy and would prefer it not to keep it in my office. For that reason, until my special flat ethernet cabling comes in the post (the kind you can close a door on - sadly we rent), I'm looking to hook it up to one of those ethernet-wifi bridges. The only problem is that the one I have generates a new SSID. I do not want to use the repeater WiFi SSID from my desktop — because that would be far slower than the ethernet connection it's currently on. However the problem is that I cannot find the NAS on my local network when I'm using my desktop (which is connected over ethernet to the primary network - which has a different SSID than the repeater one which the NAS is hooked up to over ethernet). Is this always the case when you have hardware devices on different SSIDs but the same LAN? Is there something I need to enable on the router so that I can find the NAS from the main network? Posted: 20 Jun 2020 03:44 PM PDT Hello everyone, Was wondering if there is such a thing as a wireless aux connector (not one to bluetooth to your phone or whatever, like essentially an aux cable without the cable part). I'm trying to connect a projector to a home sound system that doesn't have bluetooth compatibility. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

I want to search a large area by fibre availability, are there any tools to do just that? Posted: 20 Jun 2020 07:15 AM PDT I've been lucky in my career and have an approximate all-clear from my management structure to work from home indefinitely. This means that I can stop living somewhere that I don't love, and now that I'm financially ready to purchase a home, I'm looking at areas in the Pacific Northwest. I'm not set on any one area, and I'm planning a two-week vacation to go explore potential areas in northern California/Oregon/Washington. To the point of the post, my work is heavily reliant on a strong, fast internet connection, and I'm a nerd who likes to download a lot of garbage, so if I'm being choosy, I want to look at areas with fibre access, but I can't find a tool that lets me view provided internet by type(or speed) at a state-level or higher. is there a video group call with localized chat groups? Posted: 20 Jun 2020 06:15 AM PDT Basically replicating a pub. Is there a video chat where say 10+ people, but can group up into a smaller group. The overall chat volume is lowered and main audio those in the group you selected. Then be able to jump to another group. And also have an overall speaker. This would work for teaching environment, where you have teacher to speaker over all, but small groups can chat, say on split into groups and work on assignment, but teacher can hope around to help where needed. Posted: 20 Jun 2020 05:44 AM PDT Hi, I'm looking at the kospet prime and comparing the 1GB RAM/16 GB to the 3GB RAM and 32 GB. the difference in price is like 110/160. I'm hoping to entirely replace my phone. I don't play games, but it would be ideal if this watch could have whatsapp, signal, uber, and my banking app at one time with no slow down, preferably with space to add a couple apps as needed. I don't play phone games, so that is not a consideration. I am planning to be using the phone less, but i still need these essential functions to run smooth. what do y'all think, is there any point to me getting the upgraded version, or will i just not use it? ADVICE: Thinking about selling my iMac Posted: 20 Jun 2020 04:45 AM PDT Considering selling my 2017 27" 5k iMac (i5, 3.4ghz ,8gb ram) and swapping to a smaller MBP (recently brought a gaming laptop and I want to have a dual display set up so I can switch between my mac and windows laptop, I can't use this iMac as a display/monitor) How would the new 2020 13" MBP compare in performance to my iMac. I like the idea of something more portable and smaller. I do a little bit of photoshop work and use FCPX mostly on the mac [link] [comments] |
