Posted: 06 May 2020 01:11 AM PDT Hi Techies, I recently bought a HP Pavilion Power 15ec0000na for gaming. It has been a brilliant laptop to do everything I want, however it only comes with 8GB of RAM which is just not sufficient for modern games. I have zero experience in building PC's/upgrading components, however I was hoping for some advice on whether it is easy enough to swap out the 8GB for a 16GB myself, or if I should wait for a professional to do it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Will connecting both Ethernet and WiFi increase the speed? Posted: 05 May 2020 06:18 PM PDT I thought if ethernet and wifi are connected at the same time, since it's 2 channel, it will increase the speed. But, I read someone says that if you have only one LAN card, connecting both (Wifi and Ethernet) will rather slow the speed. Is this true? [link] [comments] |
How to access someone's cellphone and laptop remotely? Prefably free Posted: 06 May 2020 04:38 AM PDT I have this buissness idea of helping elders/seniors with their cellphone and laptop/computer, however with lockdown and social distancing and them being at high risk, I need help figuring out how to help them remotely, so prefably if possible not a software that's too complicated or too much/many steps to set up. I hope there's some way that it's possible Thank you all [link] [comments] |
PBX provider solution for < 15-20 users, but offline support necessary. Posted: 06 May 2020 03:45 AM PDT What we're trying to look for is solution that offers offline support, through an App that our folks can download on their phones. Not having offline support is a dealbreaker for us, as one of the countries we operate (Philippines), being without internet on occasion is something we have to prepare for. The reason we're after a PBX at all is to have some way of recording calls our folks have with clients. It needs to accommodate:

program that tells when my screensaver went on or how long it has been on Posted: 06 May 2020 02:26 AM PDT I often fall asleep while reading or viewing stuff on my laptop. my screensaver starts after ten minutes of inactivity. if it has not started when I wake up, I know my nap was less than ten minutes. would be very helpful to know how long I have slept after the screen saver went on. is there an ap that can tell me that? I am using a windows laptop [link] [comments] |

Posted: 06 May 2020 01:58 AM PDT I accidentally deleted the M3U8 file for the folder I wanted to access. Is there any app or a website that can replace that M3U8 for that folder? Or I have to code the M3U8 file myself? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 May 2020 01:21 AM PDT Say you subscribe to a monthly music subscription that allows you to download the music to your device. If you were to put the device in airplane mode, could you potentially listen to that music forever? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 May 2020 11:55 PM PDT Hi all — Just trying to discern if I'm doing something wrong here. Whenever I encounter hardware issues with a device—smartphone, laptop, e-reader—it's almost inevitably the port that's causing problems, though I tend only to discover it/remember my curse after shelling out money on new chargers and cables and adapters. Whether canned air or toothpick, I don't tend to clean much dirt or debris at all from the port when I try to clear it out, so I'm guessing my messiness isn't the issue. At present, both my smartphone AND my e-reader are giving grief. Smartphone flies into a tizzy every time I plug in earbuds, as if I were trying to summon voice control constantly. It's gotten so bad I can't even listen to music. E-reader will charge but doesn't show up on laptop when connected. Are there any fixes for issues like this? What can I do to avoid more? Are ports especially weak parts of devices? [link] [comments] |

Help! I'm a victim of phone spoofing! Is this a security concern and how do I stop it?? Posted: 05 May 2020 08:38 AM PDT So in late January I received 3 unknown calls one day. The first two calls I just missed. The third call I picked up because I happened to be looking at my phone. I said hello but heard nothing and hung up after 20 seconds. It seems to me that this third caller was the one that fucked me over/was the scammer. Following that day onwards, I have received at least one call or message a day from people who say that I have called them and that they're calling back when obviously I have not. I just want this to end because it's annoying and more recently I've been consumed with the paranoia that the scammer has access to text messages, can access my phone remotely just by having access to my phone number. Is this possible?? Can people hack my phone just through a phone number? Or is spoofing just an annoying hijack? Please answer this. Moreover, how do I stop it without changing my phone number? It's a long process to change my phone number and I don't even know how many vital companies/accounts I've given it to. Is it possible to get my phone provider or OFCOM to stop it? (I'm uk based) [link] [comments] |
4k TV conflicting with other monitors Posted: 05 May 2020 10:32 PM PDT Trying to set up my lounge room TV (Samsung 4k) as a 3rd display on my pc. Couch gaming and such. Problem I'm having is when plugging in the hdmi my other monitors go black and flicker, as well as the tv. I cant adjust any settings cause i cant see anything, even loading in safe mode didnt help. Gfx card is Asus gtx1070 dual. Ive got a proper hdmi cable to support 4k at the length it is. Plugging in only the TV and switching my pc on has random issues from it not botting properly, to it sometimes displaying properly at 4k, but not letting me past the windows lock screen (I have no idea). any help would be appreciated. Posted: 05 May 2020 09:58 PM PDT This is super weird. I consider myself semi-technical, but I have no clue what's happening. I am trying to play a game on my computer, but I don't have Bluetooth. So I have my headset directly connected to the computer. But when I plug in my Xbox one game controller, there is a really weird static "bump"ing sound. The longer it's plugged in, the faster it gets. The controller won't turn on, and the computer recognizes it's existence but won't use it. I used it fine just 6 hours prior. Any clue what's happening or how to fix it would be appreciated [link] [comments] |

Paranoid about Google Photos, how they purge data, or do they? Posted: 05 May 2020 09:26 PM PDT Hi all, I have been getting really paranoid about privacy lately and thought I should talk to someone who knows what goes on the backend of things. I have two questions, When we upload a private photo/video on to Google Photos, can a Google employee see it and download it? (if yes, how many permission cycles they have to go through?) Or when the Machine Learning algorithm runs the photos, does it keep it forever even after I delete the photo? My second question is about the data purging. When I hit the delete button on the trash bin on Google Photos, does it actually delete it? Is it gone for good, or will it stay in Google Servers, somewhere obscure? How does Google destroy and purge these deleted photos without looking at them? It's been a year since I deleted it. Am I safe? I am just devasted that something will happen in the future and ruin my life, like someone sharing those private photos. Whatever your answer is, I will be truly grateful for it! You are doing me a great favor. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 May 2020 05:27 PM PDT The touch pad on my Chromebook stopped working recently. Luckily I have a Bluetooth mouse I've been using instead. Last night I accidentally turned off the Bluetooth connectivity on my main account so the mouse stopped working. I'm able to log in to the account but I'm not sure how to turn the Bluetooth back on without a mouse. Any suggestions? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Should I buy a Nintendo switch or AirPod pros Posted: 05 May 2020 09:01 PM PDT I was thinking of getting one of these two. What do you guys think. I already have a gaming pc and ps4 but have no good earphones other than my wired ones. And I don't really like headphones. I do like the games on the switch but there pretty expensive and I'm already planning to get a ps5. What do you guys think [link] [comments] |
How to make my profile not searchable within Facebook? Posted: 05 May 2020 08:25 PM PDT I thought I read somewhere that you can set your privacy so that others can't find you when they search for your name in Facebook. Can anyone confirm this, and how to do it? [link] [comments] |

Software or tips to assist shifting focus across multiple projects Posted: 05 May 2020 02:20 PM PDT At work (computer-based) i have a large number of very different projects on the go simultaneously, sometimes requiring a complete "change of hats" - and struggling to switch between them seamlessly. All too often I find that I need a prohibitive amount of time to re-orient and open all the necessary documents & software to pick up where I left off - only to get dragged off in a different direction. Can't change the circumstances or environment, so I'm looking for software solutions to help orient me quickly to the "environment" needed - all the word/excel/powerpoint files + additional specialist software I need, quickly. Ideally a dashboard switching solution which has some kind of memory - i.e. doesn't get wiped out when restarting the computer. Windows 10 multiple desktops doesn't even come close. Any tips or software to consider? [link] [comments] |

Personal Solar Panel Recommendations? Posted: 05 May 2020 08:49 AM PDT So I've been looking at Personal/Portable Solar Panels to power my HP Pavilion, a Dell monitor, and maybe charge my phone and/or other various gadgets. Posted: 05 May 2020 08:07 AM PDT Thank you ahead of time for any insight that you guys provide. I will present the issue and see if anyone has any good ideas. Need to setup scans to folder where I can put multiple icons on the desktop that each have their own scans settings saved. Example - User needs to scan in an employee application, click the Employee App icon and it will auto select a folder in documents for that. Then the user needs to scan in an inventory report, click the Inv Report icon and it will auto select the right folder to scan to without the user needing to change anything. I will end up needing about 4 different scan-to-folder icons on the desktop each with their own saved settings. It should all be for brother printers. Trying to user proof this as much as possible to keep from getting "How do I scan this!? Where did it go!?" phone calls for weeks. Much love [link] [comments] |
