Posted: 23 Feb 2020 05:38 PM PST I've had to do a TON of copy/pasting in excel lately and it got me thinking... How on earth does Excel's "copy/paste" work? If you have a cell that has a function inside of it like "=A1/10" where A1 = 100, if you copy that cell, and paste it to a different program, you'll get the number 10 pasted. But if you paste INSIDE of excel, you'll just get the formula (or rather, the formula with the cell values changed to reflect where you're pasting it.) So how does Excel override the computer's default paste function to paste the formula instead? [link] [comments] |

Is my computer or router at risk cause of what I have done. Posted: 23 Feb 2020 08:45 PM PST So I wanted to setup a Minecraft server to mess around with my friends and play maps and such. First I gave them my IPv4 address and the port to try and connect (it didnt work) then I fixed it and gave them my public IP address and port and it worked and I was so excited and pumped. I then ended up figuring out my friend is EXTREMELY good with coding and computers and networking and such. The only problem is I havent known him to long and I'm a little concerned because I literally just gave him and my other friends my IP. I also did the server correctly and port forwarded my router and allowed the TCP and UDP port through Windows Firewall. I just need to know if my computer or router is in danger. [link] [comments] |
Can I use one hardware security key for more than one website? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 04:11 PM PST Or will using it for more than one site make it incompatible with the previous site with which I used it? [link] [comments] |
Are we close to truly smart earbuds and headphones? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 04:04 PM PST I have dreamed of a day, for a very long time, where I could download a podcast, or a playlist, etc. to my earbuds, so I dont have to carry my phone with me. Would be great for going on runs or working out. Is anyone developing anything like this? Do you think it will be a thing soon, or ever? [link] [comments] |
Are there any elite, paid, or invite only forums I should be aware of? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 09:02 PM PST I think I've outgrown Reddit and need to challenge myself 10x. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Feb 2020 11:30 AM PST Hello, hoping to get some help figuring out what is going on. Apologies if this is the wring sub for it, I wasn't sure which it would fit in best. I have a 25' HDMI cable running from a feather plate behind my TV to a wall plate behind my computer desk. I had to use a coupler to add another 6' cable to reach because of the path it had to take. I have tested both cables independently, and they work perfectly. When I test them coupled together, no signal goes through to the TV. If I test the coupler with a third cable on the coupler instead of the second one, I get a flaky signal coming through to the TV that fails the second the coupling moves. Anyone have some insight/advice to fix this issue? [link] [comments] |
Is there a downside to turning on dark mode? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 07:52 PM PST It's my first time using it. Is there anything important know? Does everything still operate okay? [link] [comments] |
How was my Facebook Marketplace account hacked? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 07:00 PM PST I was selling some items online on FB's Marketplace, and a few days later, I was shocked to see that someone selling Elvis Presley's $100M inheritance to his daughter for just $14,000. This was comical because it wasn't realistic at all. I'm wondering how this happened in the first place. [link] [comments] |
Does iris cloning technology exist or is it possible to develop? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 11:16 AM PST Could you use someone's face from an existing video and use it to digitally clone their iris? Wondering if this is possible and what software you might use to prevent this (or is sunglasses the only option now)? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
How does a Bluetooth Cassette adapter work? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 03:26 PM PST I was getting a ride to the store today when I saw a bluetooth cassette adapter for the first time. I was baffled by it, and I still am. I tried to google it to no avail, can someone please explain? [link] [comments] |
Should I sell a P20 Lite for an iPhone 7? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 09:34 AM PST I have a Huaweii P20 Lite 64GB that I've owned for a just under a year, which I've used for around 20 hours in total (work only). The phone is flawless (10/10), no scratches, but I'd like to sell it and purchase a new or second hand iPhone 7s. Will I be able to get a new iPhone 7s with the money from the sales or would it be necessary to earn a bit more? Is this a good idea? Your advice is truly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
What's a good low priced wifi router that'll work well? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 08:30 AM PST I'm looking for a new router because my wifi can hardly handle Netflix, any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Looking for the best way to archive family photos and videos Posted: 23 Feb 2020 05:20 AM PST Hello, I would like to scan all of our physical family photos going back generations and put them in a central location all family members can access. I am assuming something cloud based but not sure which one to pick. It would also be great if each member could also upload photos from their phone to share and we could tag photos with name, location, date etc. Any suggestions or recommendations? TIA [link] [comments] |
Why would someone intentionally choose a lower amp circuit breaker? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 08:44 AM PST Given the choice between 20 and 60 amps or some legitimate number of amps that is pretty high, why limit yourself? Every room could have a washing machine and fridge while a space heater and vacuum are going and all the ladies could be double fisting hair dryers. So what is the upside that prevents us from living in electrical utopia? Update: I'm talking about new construction here, not about swapping out a breaker on a circuit that was not designed to handle the load. Assuming money is not a concern, and you are hiring a professional who knows what they are doing and uses the correct wiring/hardware throughout the system. Is there some legit technical concern for only designing circuits for 15 or 20 amps other than cost? Like if I could afford a whole house with 300 amp circuits, and the wiring and all other shits were in line, would it just be more expensive than I need, or would it be a poor design for some other reason. Free audio transcription tool, do you know any? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 07:41 AM PST I'm getting content (WhatsApp audio) sent to me that I have to transcribe every day for a project I'm doing. This is time consuming so I'm looking for a free service where I add the audio and it is transcribed. I have actually discovered that Word can do this but I have to play it out loud. It's a good option of course to save time but is there anything else I can use? I'm ideally after something that is processed for me online, if it exists. [link] [comments] |
