    Help! I dun fucked up

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 04:30 AM PST

I was changing my refresh rate(RR) on nvidia. And when you change your RR one of two things happen either your tv says 'not supported' or it is and you click 'ok' on the pannel that says it will revert in 20 seconds so if it isnt itll revert it. To the point: i canged it to 80hertz and accidently clicked the ok button confirming the 80hz refresh rate. Now my tv is indeifinitely saying not supported. How can i fix this?

I recently bought a pair of bluetooth earbuds (Lypertek Tevi). Is there a component I can add to my desktop PC that would enable me to receive sound from my desktop to the earbuds?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 05:15 PM PST

I built the PC myself in 2014-15. Is there a USB solution or do I have to add a soundcard with bluetooth to an available pci-e slot?

my devices think im in Poland. Im not. how do I fix it?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 01:06 AM PST

if I search for, for example, Ebay, I get results for Ebay.pl, other polish sites related to Ebay and such.

this happens on multiple devices, on different wifi connections, and even data. I've been in a couple different countries the last week, none of them Poland, and I've gotten the same results in all the countries.

what is happening? how do I fix it?

Thoughts on the ability of in i5 with HD530 graphics to drive a 4k monitor for office use?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 09:21 PM PST

    Hey all,

I'm the "local computer nerd" for a few friends, and have an older friend who has a hard time seeing. We are looking at getting her a nice big monitor for her office so she doesn't have to sit as close as she does to her current 24" one (also looking at mount it on a movable arm so she can adjust the distance as needed). Currently thinking of going somewhere in the 32-38 inch range (probably closer to the 38" end).

She doesn't do anything taxing with it, just internet browsing, very light office stuff, crosswords and "find the hidden item" games.

Generally if someone was going to try and run a 4k screen I'd suggest a discrete GPU, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has any experience with HD530 and thinks she will be able to get away with 60hz 4k over DP/HDMI without needing the additional horsepower?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I need to buy a new computer ASAP and I am so overwhelmed with the options, please advise:

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 01:55 PM PST

I need a new laptop ASAP- as in yesterday. I am so overwhelmed by options. I am hoping I can get some recommendations for something I can go out and buy today or have delivered in a day or at least by the end of the week. Here is what I need:

I do not want to spend very much money! Definitely want to spend under $500. Preferably around $200.

I do not, I repeat: I do not want to buy a refurbished or used computer.

I will need a minimum of 6Gb of Ram.

I will not be using it for gaming or making videos or even streaming a lot of media except for the occasional how-to video on youtube.

I will be using it for some design (social media, light website design, logos, etc).

I will also be using it for research so it needs to be able to get along well with 50+ tabs open.

I'm not terribly concerned with operating system although it would be nice if it had windows.

I know nothing about hard drive types, processors, cpu, etc. I just want the computer to be super fast and efficient.

I hate it when there are tons of extra frills and things I do not need and especially despise it when extra things are added automatically without letting me know or asking.

To sum up, I would like recommendations for a PC laptop or notebook that is cheap, fast, and easy to use. Please, and thank you!

    EDIT: Just to clarify-

I will be surfing the net, sourcing, researching, etc. I will also use it to design marketing materials (social media, logos, presentations) and basic web design.

I try not to download anything but sometimes I do. I don't download music or movies.

I don't know if I run high power apps....

    I definitely need a PC!

Pc blue screens after installing new graphics card.

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 07:29 PM PST

I recently put a 1050 ti in my pc.

    20gb ddr3 ram Intel i5-2400 quad core 1050-ti 4gb

Ever since I installed my 1050ti my computer cannot load into csgo maps, crashes with blue screen (critical process died) and runs extremely slow. In task manager it says "system interruptions" are taking 100% of cpu. When this happens my pc is unusable. I think it might be the drivers, I uninstalled the most revent nvidia geforce drivers and installed older ones, nothing changed. Any suggestions?

    Reconciling Google apps with Microsoft?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 11:59 AM PST

I was wondering if anyone had had any luck with this in the past, or has experienced the same confusion.

I really really like Microsoft's suite. Word/Excel are things I consistently use over things like Google Docs and Sheets. I don't use the Mail program on my PC because I have too many features set up in Gmail, but I really like the online "Outlook." I haven't tried Outlook on PC in quite a while because I remember using it in 2003/2007, and it was disastrously complex for what I needed. It was also hard to move from computer to computer.

However, I really like the polish and syncing that occurs with Google's apps. It's awesome to be able to edit real time documents with other people. I know you can do this with "Office Online," but it just isn't as seamless or easy to get to. There's a lot getting in the way. I especially like things like Google Calendar and Google Feed (on the left side of my home screen on my phone).

I'd like to be able to use both of them. Teams for complex work stuff, office for the power, but also the calendars of Google and their feed. I've been thinking about diving more into the Microsoft side of things, what with the interesting phone they are producing (I've experienced Microsoft launcher on my phone, and it was almost perfect), and other things. However, stuff like having two different calendars, the inability to effectively sync a lot of my google programs, and, of course, the two highest offenders of them all, Bing and Cortana, cause me to not want to do this.

I'm curious, however, if there are solutions to things like this. Has anyone managed to get it all working side by side effectively? Where your calendars are synced between them, and you can effectively use Google services without constantly being badgered by Microsoft to use theirs?

How to copy door king 8066-080?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 12:16 PM PST

My apt complex uses the doorking 8066-080 remote/key fob to open the gate and to get into the gym. I want to be able to clone this remote/key fob. When I look online, it says that the serial number of a remote/fob needs to be programmed into the receiver. However, with my 2005 lexus lx470, I was able to clone it using the remote/key fob that i own to my car's garage door opener button. When I press the garage door button in my car, it opens the gate of my apt complex. If the receiver needs to be programmed then how on earth is my car able to clone the remote/fob code that it uses?

I would like another key fob so i can give one to my gf and also get into the gym and open the garage door opener. Thanks in advance.

    Email Subscription format

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 05:23 AM PST

I am going to start taking select stories out of various books I own and email them out as a "weekly reader" to friends or whoever would be interested in the subject material. This isn't for money, it is literally just to share the excerpts without these people having to buy and a read the whole book.

I want to do it through some kind of email subscription. They will be able to send me their email, it will automatically go to a list, and when I send out my articles it will go to the addresses in this list.

What email platform or service should I use for this? I was working with Mailchimp but I'm not sure it'll really fits the need. Thanks

Ways to access cellular data in places with limited/no coverage

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 05:34 AM PST

For a number of people in the middle of nowhere to send small amounts of data to one another (and ideally connect to the wider Internet)

What are the possible solutions (if there are any).

Considered some sort of mesh network, a temporary mast or some sort of satellite receivers?

    Thanks

New NVMe M.2 SSD disabled my USB Ports

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 05:34 AM PST

    I just installed a new NVMe M.2 SSD Samsung 970 EVO SSD 500GB - M.2 NVMe

To Acer predator helios 300 PH315-52

I found two USB ports out of 4 Disabled not sure if the new SSD is the reason behind this.

I searched a lot in Acer community and manual could't find details about this anywhere.

My question is this a normal behavior or something is broken?
