Posted: 22 Nov 2019 07:33 PM PST We bought a laptop that is the ROG Strix G531GT-AL324T and this site ( http://www.villman.com/Product-Detail/asus_rog_G531GT-AL324T ) says that it has "Smart Keyboard" cooling under the "Intelligent Cooling Improves Your Experience" part. I want to know if this means that the laptop is using the keyboard as part of the cooling system as in it uses them as vents like other laptops or the laptop's cooling system is cooling the keyboard and the keyboard itself is not part of the system. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:46 AM PST I'm standoffish about TorGuard as a vpn because I'm NOT a stan of Tor (I know many are, I'm just not)- does using TorGuard on your computer basically put Tor on your computer? Is TorGuard unsafe to use for highly sensitive info? [link] [comments] |
Is my monitor VESA compatible? Posted: 22 Nov 2019 03:52 PM PST I've got this monitor and I want mount it on a VESA system since the base has always given me grief but the holes on the back aren't on the same level and I don't know if that'll be an issue. [link] [comments] |
What are my options for accessing media on my Android phone from Windows besides MTP through USB? Posted: 22 Nov 2019 11:04 PM PST My work requires me to constantly access and modify files on my smartphone from a computer. USB is unreliable and mtp has some limitations that get in the way of my work flow so I'm wondering what my alternatives are. I don't have admin access to that computer but I know the IT guys and they could set up or install stuff for me as long as it's justifiable and not a security risk. I'm thinking of stuff like ftp or ssh or whatever,, but this is my first smartphone and I don't know if those even make sense in this platform. It's important that other people can't just snoop through my files and being able to share only specific folders is desirable, don't want the nudes to show up at work. [link] [comments] |
Can running a program while downloading cause corrupted files? Posted: 22 Nov 2019 09:12 PM PST I don't remember where I read or heard it, but is it true that running programs while you download something raises the chances that you'll corrupt the files being downloaded? [link] [comments] |

Watching 1080p on a 1280x1024 monitor? Posted: 22 Nov 2019 01:57 PM PST I was wondering what would be the effects of watching 1080p videos or movies on a 1280x1024 monitor. Now i know the max output of that doesnt reach 1080 p but will it be scaled down to 1280x1024 and will it be better than watching at 720 p or not? Would i be able to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 1280x1024 monitor? [link] [comments] |
Looking for a new graphics card Posted: 22 Nov 2019 05:32 PM PST I'm currently looking for a graphics card for $500 max that I can mostly play league on. I've looked on some benchmarks but there are barely any that are testing league. Is there any game with similar fps as league that there are benchmarks for? Tips in general help aswell. Posted: 22 Nov 2019 04:53 AM PST Hello all! My parents love to watch tv and next to the regular cable they also have Netflix to enjoy. But some stuff is not avaible for them and some stuff won't even get released here and they have old stuff around the house. But my parents are in their 60s and my dad, the tech savvy fellow had a stroke last year. This made it very hard for him to do and remember stuff and he will never be the same again. My mom does a lot but the tech things she doesn't know or is learning about. I help out with stuff but it i want to make it easier because i know things but just on a basic level. Easier for them and easier for me! I don't live at home but i do see them from time to time. What i want is a set up where i can push a tv show, movie, cd, record anything digital from my home to a server thingie in their home and they can just acces it and press play on their phone, tablet or tv. I just want to grab 300 of my dads old records, sit on a night, turn a few of them digital and send him a text to check and play! Or a old dvd or cd.. you get it. They also have spotify and i know you can set things up with VPN and more services but it also needs to be easy for them. That is the best. Budget is for now not a problem so just call out what you think is good! I know that the techworld is broad and although theoreticly everything is possible so just go ham and we'll see what is possible. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Monitor, chromecast and bluetooth headphones. Posted: 22 Nov 2019 01:56 PM PST I am looking at putting a 24 inch samsung monitor in my kitchen. I will be using this with a chromecast . The monitor has an audio out which I would like to put to a speaker. Would I be able to to purchase a speaker which can then connect to bluetooth headphones. I understand that usually the speaker would connect to a device and not what is essentially another speaker . Is it possible to do this if the speaker has an audio into it from the monitor and then has to somehow pair with headphones. Any advice is appreciated [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Nov 2019 10:51 AM PST Hi, I have 4 computers in my office. We have 50 mbps through Comcast. 3 of the 4 all get that and the 4th, which is maybe 30 feet from the router is only getting 6 up and 10 down. It doesn't seem to be connected to WiFi. If I disconnect the Ethernet cable I lose all internet. Any idea why this 1 computer has such lower speeds? [link] [comments] |
Laptop is heating to 65C-70C (149F-158F) while playing a game. Is this too high? Posted: 22 Nov 2019 08:50 AM PST I've been playing Civ 6 on my laptop. I noticed it gets hot so I thought I'd measure the temperature of the air right as it is exiting the laptop vents. It fluctuates between 65 and 70 C but mostly stays at 66C (around 151F). Is this too hot and will this cause damage to my laptop long term? If so, do you recommend I get a cooling pad? [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to make an app that could track a regular key through magnetic waves? Posted: 22 Nov 2019 08:47 AM PST I was thinking, you take a key and get it magnetized, then you have an app that scans the magnetic signal. Then it is able to locate the key though detecting the magnetic signal though the app. Is this possible or not? [link] [comments] |
How do computers connect to a server for server-side rendering? Posted: 22 Nov 2019 08:43 AM PST I don't want to do this in practice, but if I wanted to have all the users in my office on thin clients and have them do all the processing on a server, that possible right? What does it require and/or how is it done? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Nov 2019 07:03 AM PST TLDR: Downloaded a zip file from a random website that generates useful icons and want to know if it's safe to open. [link] [comments] |
